One of My favorite things in fire emblem three houses is how terrible “Those Who Slither In the Dark” are at Acting despite the main part of their plan being to impersonate people.
The only reason this worked is because nobody in that world would think their friend who suddenly completely changed one day might be because they were replaced by a magical doppelgänger. Like as far as most people are aware that’s not a thing. Even the people who are themselves shapeshifters don’t understand how that’s possible.
Hmm that student we rescued after a year of imprisonment seems completely different from how she was. Idk trauma?
The court mage who kindly saved our kingdom from a plague suddenly completely changed personalities right down to her likes and how she talks, keeps saying evil things, and seems to have stopped aging. Women am I right?
Like they didn’t do any research on who they were replacing, none of them even took an acting class.
Except maybe Solon because I don’t think anyone ever mentioned the librarian acting differently, but he was still being super suspicious in general. Don’t think I didn’t notice you looming over there. Solon does strike me as the evil theater major type.
Like even a simple background check on the man who was supposedly in house Ordelia when most of their children died under mysterious circumstances would have majorly undermined their plan. Like “hey let’s ask the last survivor of house Ordelia who’s conveniently at our school right now about his resent work before we rehire him. What you’ve never seen this man before? Interesting”
I see why it took them a thousand years to get anything done.
