Dear Students,

For this assignment, I asked you to find a cartoonist you liked and use their drawing style to tell your own story.

Borrowing another person’s style to ride around for awhile is never a bad idea. You see so much more of their work when you copy it, and when you really get to know it, you can borrow their style like a pony to ride around and see the world in their way.  I don’t think you need to worry about copying because eventually the style you think you are copying becomes more and more your own. Borrowing someone elses style can give you that critical boost, that push that gets you suddenly balancing on two wheels and rolling on your own.

It’s hard to believe, but this is really is just Uniball pen, watercolor on index cards the hand of Fay AtoMz.
