Ο άγιος Padarn (Πάνταρν)
Ο Padarn γεννήθηκε τον 5ο αιώνα στη Βρετάνη της Γαλλίας. Οι γονείς του ήταν ευλαβείς Χριστιανοί και ο Padarn αποφάσισε να αφιερώσει τον εαυτό του σε μια ζωή προσευχής και νηστείας. Ταξίδεψε στην Βρετανία και ίδρυσε ένα μοναστήρι στην περιοχή Llanbadarn Fawr (σημαίνει η εκκλησία του Padarn στα Ουαλικά) κοντά στο Aberystwyth . Έγινε επισκοπή με τον Padarn σαν επίσκοπο. Έμεινε εκεί για 21 χρόνια. Το μοναστήρι έγινε μεγάλο κέντρο μάθησης και έναν καιρό είχε μια βιβλιοθήκη μεγαλύτερη από αυτήν του Canterbury στο York. Λέγεται πως ο Padarn επισκέφτηκε την Ιρλανδία όπου ο πατέρας του είχε γίνει ερημίτης. Επισκέφτηκε και την Ιερουσαλήμ μαζί με τον άγιο Δαβίδ της Ουαλίας και τον άγιο Teilo. Ο Padarn κοιμήθηκε γύρω στο έτος 550 και ίσως να είναι θαμμένος στο Ynys Enlli (στο Νησί Bardsey της Ουαλίας*). Η μνήμη του τιμάται στις 15 Απριλίου.
*Νησί της Ουαλίας όπου στο παρελθόν ασκήτεψαν χιλιάδες άγιοι άντρες των Βρετανικών Νήσων και της Ιρλανδίας.
