north: they are a dog on a leash !! they are so good at following orders and doing tricks and coming when called and attacking on command !!! he is the hand that feeds and pets and beats and yanks them backwards by the collar when they are out of hand !!! they're a dog! they're a pet! they're a tool !!!

(pre-hb) chen: they're a dog tied up outside. they are still so good at following orders and coming when called, but now instead of attacking, it's "protecting" and instead of the hand that feeds and beats, it's the hand that points outside, that says go on, you know you're not wanted here allowed inside. still a dog, still a tool, but not a pet.

ricardo: a rescued stray. they're house-trained and they know some tricks and if you give them enough space they'll come to you in time, but they're not afraid to flash their teeth to try and scare you off. not afraid to use them either; you don't know how many times you've washed blood off your hands. watched them lick it off their teeth with an expression you're too human to fully understand. a dog. a pet. a friend?
