the inaugural friend trip had been going better than allie could have ever planned. everyone in the group was having a blast. bonds were strengthening beyond college campus, and things just felt . . . absolutely incredible. the night before, allie's crush on greg had come to fruition under a shared blanket in the swinging chair on the back porch. it hadn't gotten much more than heated kisses and a simple wandering of hands because of footsteps. it wasn't that allie was trying to keep herself and greg a secret . . . she was just worried about how their friends would perceive them being the ones to burst the bubble beyond friendship. would they support it? would they suddenly be shunned? the latter didn't make sense, she knew that, but it still had her riddled with anxiety.
the next day, she and greg were sharing more looks than usual. there were more hands brushing the other in passing and flirty little remarks. it was about as subtle as a heart attack. after lunch, greg had approached her with a casual question as they were all walking back into the airbnb from their day's trek:
❝ could you help me with something? ❞
she released a soft, confused laugh as she walked back down the front steps and over towards greg's car where his back hatch was still open as if he needed her help carrying something. when she rounded the corner behind his car, she released a yelp of surprise as she was pulled into a hard kiss. she melted into it with a soft noise, her arms lifting to wrap around his neck.
" we're gonna get caught out here, " she scolded in between kisses and snickered laughs, though she wasn't doing anything to stop herself from @favoritz's attack.
