Self-hatred in the form of internalized racism is a complex matter. It wouldnāt just manifest as Sera beingĀ āheckin squickedā by elfy things lmao.
Itās giving up things you enjoy but are too āstereotypicalā, hanging out with people who help reinforce your self-hatred, being hypercritical of your appearance and mannerisms, etc.Ā Itās the feeling that your existence warrants an apology and compressing your identity into something more palatable. Itās witnessing the unethical, violent treatment of your race and fearing any alignment with it.
We get some depth, like when Sera explains not feeling connected to her people & isolated by what an ideal elf should be, and Iām grateful we got that, but its still so trite.
