The men are about. There is Cassandra, impossibly frustrated, hacking away at a dummy. Varric, perched by a campfire he’s never once seen go out. Iron Bull is pommeling, Krem, falling, and far in the distance like a moon, bright and overseeing, the Herald stands untouchable by the Chantry.

There is Elisabeth, too. But this is not the Circle. 

There is no Greagoir and no Irving. No more late-night studies or dining hall rumors. She is not in her robes, but in armor, and he is no longer hopeful or shining. No longer a templar.

kankuro is an ugly freak and clearly some of you are into that ! i’m obsessed with kankuten. kankuro and tenten ( YOUR tenten, you goober ) are both sorta oddballs in their social circles, struggling to be recognized for their unique skills next to their prodigal peers/siblings. they’re both complete weapons nerds, like to work with their hands and build cool new gear. they both have their hangups about intimacy, and both respect the boundaries the other sets. they affirm one-another’s uniqueness, their worth, the value of their skills and interests. they are so weirdly compatible, and it’s wonderful.

i’m also very partial to kankiba, with their catboy/dogboy aesthetic and their stupid matching facepaint. they’re both so ungodly feral and deeply rude. following this theme of freaks only, i think kankuro and shino would fuck it up a lil. both petty as fuck, bickering about everything, both hiding from the world in their big jackets/robes. they’re a cryptid couple for sure. and following my affinity for Rude Boys, kankuro deserves to date Bitches and Haters like himself, so give me some kankuro and sai and some kankuro and shikamaru ( bc you KNOW its a power move for middle sibling kank to date his sister’s and his brother’s bf. and shikamaru is deeply enough of a bitch to date all three siblings in a family ).

dawn has barely begun to lighten the canvas inside the tent when he wakes.  she still sleeps peacefully beside him, her legs tangled with his, a welcome warmth and weight that makes the muscles in his stomach clench with fondness.  he gently brushes his knuckles down her arm, adjusting himself where his right arm has fallen asleep.  he needs more mornings like this.  even if his back is stiff from sleeping on a bedroll for days on end and his leg is half-numb from staying trapped between her own for too long.  he’s almost too-warm, even on the cool ground, but he doesn’t dare move to disturb her. 

that is, until a wicked thought crosses his mind.  he smirks to himself, trailing his free hand down arm, fingers ghosting over her abdomen.  he feels the subconscious twitch of muscle beneath his calloused palms, her body reacting to his touch even in her sleep.  down they trail, lingering over her belly button, before he finally, ever-so-gently slips them inside of her smalls. 

there is hardly any space between them, and it’s hard for his fingers to get an angle good enough to give her the pleasure she deserves.  he manages to stroke her folds, bringing his lips to her neck to nip at her pulse-point.

@fatethreaded​ sent  “You look better like this.” The comment is made in passing, nothing more than an off handed observation as she watches the king running drills with the guards. He looks happier in this sort of environment. Calmer and more at ease. She would very much like to see him this comfortable more often and while she doesn’t say as much, it’s obvious in her words alone, “you should come to the yard more often.”
