*beats you to death*

he’s never been a particularly good sensor - he’s relied on his sharingan for far too much, far too long - but now, without it ( he brushes past this. he needs to focus on the next threat, on survival. mourning is a waste of the precious, borrowed time he’s already living on ) he’s in the dark. a clear mind eludes him now, foggy with pain and disorientation, and he struggles to make sense of the sensations against his own skin. they come, slowly: bandages pressed against the wounds where his eyes once were, somewhere soft to rest, and the dull ache of the aftermath of life-saving healing jutsu coursing through his veins. he’s alive, and someone has saved him. but why?

this poses a problem, one that places him in a danger potentially greater than death. shisui strains to get a read on the area, looking for danzo’s chakra ( the memory of it makes him sick, he’d know it instantly. too close, suffocating, killing him. he very nearly killed him ) and comes up empty. there’s … something nearby, so he isn’t out of the clear yet, but its fuzzy to him. shinobi instinct, drilled into him since childhood, prevents him from staying still very long. sishui is unsteady, dizzy, sore all over, but he pushes himself up and tries to stumble out of bed, into some sort of standing position. he needs to keep moving, he’s always been told, or he’ll die.

a hand clings to his bedside to keep upright, but it’s difficult. when shisui tries to move from the bedside ( to search the room for a medical instrument that could make a decent weapon, or an escape route ), his knees buckle under the weight. it’s too soon, he’s too hurt, too exhausted from being pulled from the brink of death. shisui reaches out in a panic to find something to catch him, but he knocks into the bedside table he didn’t know was there, sends its contents to the ground with a clatter. shit. shit. footsteps down the hall let him know whoever has saved him can hear, knows he’s awake now ( and if his rescue was not a kindness after all, then this is where he surely meets a fate worse than death ) and they’re moving towards him.
