#fat bashing

The post was this long personal rant that boiled down to how the writer wished that people who believe that criticizing others who are overweight is the only way to get them back in shape could live for a day in the life of a fat person to see how hard a life they live.

First off, let me start by saying that fat-bashing, thin-bashing, any sort of bashing is completely unacceptable, regardless of if you know the person personally, see them on the street, or come across them online. Everyone is uncomfortable in their own skin, no one has it easier or harder than anyone else in that sense.

And yes, I agree that our society has put a huge amount of pressure on men and women alike to look a certain way if we ever wish to be attractive. I do not fit this image of being having a thin waist, nice handfuls of ass and tits being your only curves. I am 5'2", I weigh 175 pounds, I am by no stretch of the imagination thin or fit. I am average.

My issue however comes with people who are overweight playing the "poor pitiful me" card when people call them out on their health.

If you want to be that weight, there is nothing wrong with that. As long as you are happy in your skin, it doesn't matter what you look like or how much/little you weigh. But you need to own it. If someone says something about it, stand up for yourself and show that you're happy. No one else's opinion of you matters!

If you don't want to be that weight, then do something about it. There are doctors, diets, workouts, both free and paid for. You can even have a doctor pump the fat out of you. There's medication for if you believe there's an issue that prevents you from loosing weight. There is no reason for you to be heavy if you don't want to be.

You don't get to mope around and demand to be treated differently because you're unhappy but too lazy to do anything about it. You don't get to wish for people to "walk in your shoes". You're life isn't difficult. It's not like you're homeless or starving or undergoing some great injustice. You're just lazy.

Again, let me state that I have nothing against people who are overweight. How you live your life is your business. But I'm not going to play your crying games, I'm not going to cave and feel bad for you because someone called you fat.
