Tjørnuvík in Faroe Islands
View of Svínoy, Faroe Islands
The local ferry, Ritan, is approaching the village of Svínoy on a calm summer day. Svínoy, one of the Northern Isles, has two landings: one in the village to the south (shown in the picture) and one to the north, ensuring greater transport reliability. This was especially important in the olden days.
In the 1930s, the permanent population of Svínoy peaked at around 250. Today, it's around 10, although many descendants continue to preserve the local way of life. 🏘️🐑🐑🐑
