She looks so different from 616 farbauti and Loki's like she actually cares about her little baby. Ahhhh and adult Loki's behind them like Holy shit. Did Mobius take him here in the original script? Did he come here looking for answers. IS THERE ANYONE WHO WANTS TO TALK ABOUT JOTUNR CULTURE!!??!?? PLEASE IM FOAMING AT THE MOUTH I LOVE THIS I NEED A MILLION FANFICS OF HER AND FRIGGA BEING A COUPLE LIKE NOWWW
no farbauti your son in law is a bad boy😔
Farbauti?
I know people are really hyped about the design but personally I can't share enthusiasm.
The design is solid, no complaints and it looks like something made by an real artist rather than the a lot of suspiciously AI looking art that came from season 2. This looks genuine, nothing revolutionary for women Jotun, but still good.
But, personally I would never want to see Loki's mother in the Loki series because I don't trust them with the concept. I still remember when Kate compared Loki to the devil, and even didn't do a good comparison. Not to mention how season 2 had Loki see the Norse mythology display that was just there to make a joke how he was left out. As if LOKI is somehow minor in Norse mythology.
Look what the show did to Verity, I don't need to see them screwing anyone else up.
Frankly, at this point all I expect out of this show out of this point. Either Farbauti dying and that being blamed on Loki somehow, or that Loki is told to be grateful for being adopted, ignoring the problem of being lied to. That is all I expect out of this show at this point.
Considering the final product is always Loki being talked down, is Loki constantly needing to do all the emotional labor in every relationship and is always having his mistakes shoved in his face while no one even mentions their's. I'm grateful this show didn't get their grubby hands on Loki's other mom.
Some reference for female Jotun fashion :3
I like that dress :3

Farbauti
LOOK AT THIS BEAUTY.
Just like her baby boy :'(
We could have had it all ^^'
(Calling her Farbauti, since Laufey is Loki's dad in Marvel XDXD)
I wonder who could have played her...
Maybe Katie McGrath, since it would have been a flash back. Or Jessica Brown Findlay... Or maybe Jennifer Connely?
Anyway, it would have been so interesting and would have allowed us to find out more about Loki. And Loki himself would have loved to learn about his birth mother :'(
First of all, I am a big believer in canon pick n mix. Pick the things you like and ignore the things you don't, even though it's ok to vent from time to time about those things you don't like. But there comes a point where you accept they exist and it's just better to find joy in the things that do please you.
Anyway, time for some venting...
No but, the concept art of Loki's birth mother in the MCU has made me wonder a lot of things...
Would she also be called Farbauti as that's the name Marvel has used before?
Did she have the ability to wield magic, the concept art definitely implies as such? My own head canon is that no, not everyone can use seidr, that you need to be born with the ability to harness it and it would make sense that Farbauti would be the one to pass it along, as Jotuns don't seem to have many talents beyond their ice manipulation powers and even as a king Laufey's abilities seem limited (from what we see.)
But on that note, are Jotuns in the MCU even capable of being magical to this extent? Would this ever be explained?
Did Farbuati WANT Loki? The concept art seems to imply she was, under a very shallow surface reading of the art, a doting mother.
But would the rest of Loki's people have accepted him regardless of a mother's love? Doubtful. He was a runt supposedly and I have stressed before, Laufey didn't seem keen to look for his missing son.
Was Farbauti not entirely Jotun? She seems to e.g. have hair, something which is seemingly rare aside from Loki.
But my biggest beef is:
Why Marvel? Why? Why did you have a show called LOKI where Loki is the main character, and you have all these questions that fans have been asking for years (such as Loki's original parentage/lineage) and it seems you were AWARE of that, and you were considering exploring that and then you just... don't. You prefer using him as a vehicle to launch your shonky multiverse project and any "redemption" Loki has is nothing to do with his original family, his Asgardian family or even his heritage.
Epic levels of fan favourite character fumbling.
