Have had a few questions come up in the last day or two so I'm going to address some quickly here:

Q. Wait, is this only for women?

A. NO!  The only "requirement" to submit a photo as far as demographics are concerned- is that you must identify as either chronically ill or disabled (that illness/disability can be physical, mental, visible or invisible or any combination of the above).  Let me know what pronouns I should use when addressing you in messages/post.  All genders/races/ethnicities/sexualities/etc. are welcome (and encouraged) to participate

Q. How much does it cost to get an illustration?

A. If you just want one done and added to the blogroll, just submit a photo- there's no fee and no charge.  If you want a photo-print of the final illustration... well shoot me a message and we'll figure something out (not expensive I promise!)

Q. So is this your job?

A. Nope.  I'm currently unemployed due to my own disability.  I'm waiting on my application for disability, and am fortunate to have family helping me as much as they can in the meantime.  BUT If you want to contribute to my mounting medical bills (I had Cancer in 2012 and am still sitting on $10,000 in unpaid medical bills) you can always donate to my paypal at [email protected] (and your karmic returns will be many!)

Q. What if I don't want my name/age/conditions/location/whatever published with my illustration?

A. No problem.  Give me whatever information you want- and if you want to share your story but NOT see any of it with your final illustration post- just tell me.. please ONLY use [first name], [initial], [condition] whatever.  If you don't want the illustration published at all- please notate that.  I WILL still do it, but it may take longer to sit down and get it done.  If you want to share it all but don't want it to end up all over the internet (with the advisory that I can't STOP people from sharing what's published here), add a note that you want your final post marked "do not reblog."  I am trusting all of you, my followers, to NOT reblog posts marked as such.  This needs to be as safe a space as possible for all of us.

Q. I submitted something but I haven't gotten a confirmation!

A. Right now I'm able to send confirmation asks fairly quickly (within... 4 hours or less even).  I AM starting classes again on Tuesday so that may change.  But if you submitted more than 4 hours ago and haven't received a notice (and don't see a post about a confirmation backup), send me an ask or re-submit!

Q. Why are you doing this?

A. I'm a creative person.  I used to be a photographer, but the neuropathy in my feet has left my camera on a shelf.  So then I picked up beading again... but the same neuropathy has really started to damage my hands as well.  Graphic Design and illustration is one of the few visually creative outlets I can still do.  

But more than that, in the world of art (digital or otherwise) there is this gaping VOID when it comes to illness and disability.  Unless you're a caner patient surrounded by machines on  your deathbed- portrayed in a photo-essay designed to tug at the heartstrings- you're pretty much invisible.  And that needs to change.  Visibility Matters.  It changes perceptions, it effects social and accessibility changes.  Being SEEN and recognized not just as... hazards (which I feel a lot of us have experienced navigating an able-bodied world), but as PEOPLE.  As beautiful.  As valuable.  As... well... Art-worthy.

Por que "o diário de uma paixão"? Foi uma ideia de nome que a Flávia deu, que inclusive, eu já tinha em mente.

Quem é ele? Ele é quem você, que está lendo, quiser. 

Por que criou este tumblr? Porque foi uma opção que eu achei pra postar pra quem quiser ler e não tem contato direto comigo pra ler no caderno. 

Quando você começou a escrever isso e por que. Comecei a escrever desde março de 2013. Mais exatamente, dia 11. E o motivo é que sei lá... Quis escrever sobre esse assunto.

Alguma coisa em especial pra você escrever sobre isso? Não.

Tem planos pra escrever outra coisa? Sim, tenho planos de escrever algo mais sério... Como um livro. Mas vou pensando nisso conforme o tempo for passando.
