The World Is Amazing Actually Pt8
Hey, wanna see something that exists on the planet right now and is good?
Today’s Weird Place (The Earth is an alien planet):
Zebra Slot Canyon, Utah, USA
Yes, you’ve probably seen it on some motivational poster or other.
But that doesn’t make it any less real - or breathtaking. (or insanely dangerous)
Today’s Amazing Architecture (look! at what! we made!):
Sedlec Ossuary, the Church of Bones:
Even if you don’t watch the video, this is their coat of arms:
‘nuf said.
Today’s Interesting Creature (the rare, the beautiful, the WTF): Psychotria Elatia, aka “the hot lips flower.”
*mwah*
Today’s Unusual Public Service (Society has some perks): The library that checks out dead animals (mixed in with the books and computers, you’ll find stuffed animals, pelts, bones, fish, antlers, and people who are genuinely excited to show you boxes full of dead animal bits...)
Today’s Act of Humanity (people are okay):
A British Volunteer agency, which normally gets about 20-30 applicants a weeks, suddenly found itself with literally thousands of volunteers a few months ago. “There is now hope that one of the legacies of the pandemic will be an injection of relative youth into what had become a largely older-age volunteer community.”
Bonus: here’s something that isn’t 100% real just yet, but it’s getting there, guys. Bioluminescent bacterial infusion into plant matter. AKA Glowing Forests.
