...Anyway, you ever try to be a good person who doesn’t judge others, but then someone says the most confident and IGNORANT thing of an obvious bit of knowledge, and you’re like.... Wow I’m glad I don’t know you in real life.

Meanwhile, on AO3′s actual front page:

If I got a nickel for every time someone anti-AO3 said something like it was fact but could be easily disproven or addressed if they looked at the front page of the site even once....

I think it was likely one of those things where it started off as a meme/reaction sort of deal, and then became common parlance. Kind of like how so many people can now recognize the loss meme at sight, no matter how abstract.

Fanlore says it started in 2015:

“mostlyvalid proposed the tag on April 14, 2015 and described its intended purpose...”

But that somehow feels wrong to me, because I could have swore I saw it in use before then. Like, Livejournal before then. But maybe I’m just absorbing time wrong - always possible - or maybe it was that case of “it was a meme before, and then became Official (tm)”.

Anyway, it’s probably seeing a lot more use lately just because of the whole fandomentalist thing, so it’s one more extra warning to let people know

Instead, the person who will raise a fuss about the different between claws and talons, and sigh about how screech owls don’t screech, just told a CSA survivor they’re “not the only CSA survivor” when that CSA survivor said that misusing important terms does more harm than good.

And yeah, they blocked me.
