Another thing I drew, inspired by @in1-nutshell's writing on Sandro.
Now it's his mama's turn!
On the left is her kind's name. The Chinese mythology artbook says that such creature is often described as a river monkey with green body and white head so I came up with an idea how to imagine her looks in that case.
Okay, as for her backstory... she lived in Huaihe river before she suddenly felt someone fall into the water. It was Macaque! Over time he got interested in her which grew into a marriage and having Kaihu.
Licao is quite humble so she doesn't really like to wear some luxury clothes like the ones emperors wear. This hanfu depicted in the drawing is Macaque's gift for her birthday (some round number, I guess it was 100 years? 500 years?). He gifted it to her saying 'it matched her eyes' which really touched her.
And the peony theme wasn't lost either! Licao would sit motionless just so Macaque could weave those big flowers in her fur. Sometimes he'd put so much flowers into her fur, it made her look like she had a whole mane of flowers (and without any flowers it's still a mane). Either way, with or without flowers Macaque would still think she was beautiful.
Yep, even her monstrous Wuzhiqi form!
And Licao loves him as well, despite the additional ears. She would cover his ears and hum a soothing melody to calm him down when it hurt during thunderstorm or fireworks.
