Hot Take: the writers working on the Mizuki story line shouldn’t have to outright include the words “Mizuki is trans” for you to be able to accept that that is what is going on. No one ever said “Mafuyu is being abused by her mom” outright, they refer to it and treat it as a gentle subject because it is. Mizuki should be able to be herself without you needing the most captain obvious lines.
I think if you've put a lot of effort into a character, through writing, drawing, gif making, appropriating them, it's inevitable that you will sometimes get jealousy and possession rearing its head. I do think most humans have these feelings, the "back off that's mine" is useful in certain contexts. So is getting angry at disrespect and getting sad. Getting possessive at what is "yours" is normal, it shows up in toddlers and they too need to learn how to behave.
In fandom, what is yours is the reflexion you have constructed, that lives inside of you, not a shard of actual reality. If you subscribe to "death of the author" theories, even they don't own the characters they made. The character is a concept, a construct, and you're host to a shard.
So, I know (and experience) that the feeling of interpretations you don't like is not always pleasant. I still think one of the better ways to not go off the fandom rails is to interact often and repeatedly with other views of your pet character. Sort of like your personality, a character is a receptacle for concepts, and it can contain multitudes. I'm not saying you have to like the interpretation of others. I'm not saying that if things are stressful because you are going through a Rough Time, you can't curate your timeline. You're a big person, you know when you're too fragile for friction or not. But when you aren't, I do believe that confrontation with other views - even those you dislike - is a net good.
As a sidenote: examine what you dislike. It can be just your sense of ownership that tingles. But it could be that you don't like seeing this trait emphasized, or that side of her/him. Ask yourself why you like / dislike things, what it reminds you of. Those uncomfortable moments are pockets for growth.
People headcanoning the girls (Mafuyu's one of the most common I see) as trans guys really bothers me. The fandom already heavily favors the male characters to an ABSURD degree (just look at the # of fanfictions per character on something like Ao3), and it sucks because it's not every day you get this many well-developed and fleshed out female characters in a piece of media who don't revolve entirely around men.
I'm all for trans headcanons, make every single one of them non-cis if you want, but why aren't we headcanoning the girls as transfemme instead? Why aren't we headcanoning the characters who are ALREADY guys as transmasc??

It bothers me that Miraculous fandom writ large exists under such an enormous pressure to be artificially fluffy and sanitized, and I can’t help but think it’s due to a culture of callouts and censorship.

Little bit of background context : i made a post implying comparison btwn niigo and pmmm characters, and had kanade - madoka, mafuyu - homura.
People generally disagreed with this which is fine, but the reasoning was ALWAYS that
"Kanade is trying to save Mafuyu and Homuras trying to save Madoka"
Fair enough! But this comment pissed me off because it denied the fact that Madoka actually sacrificed arguably as much as Homura did, or at least, sacrificed to save far more people.
To my understanding, Kanade wants to save everyone, and Mafuyu just happens to be the current focus. She wants to make music to save people, which is far closer to Madokas writing than Homuras.
Madoka. LITERALLY TURNS INTO MADOKAMI TO SAVE ALL MAGICAL GIRLS. TO SAVE THEM FROM BECOMING WITCHES. AND YOURE TELLING ME THAT MADOKAS CHARACTER ISNT ABOUT SAVING PEOPLE?
And this is where it relates to tumblr.
Sooo many of the takes on here are about Homura, which is fine. Shes popular and complex and I love her writing. But whenever it relates to Madohomu, its always always always about Homura with Madoka. There is always always always a focus on the impact Madokas actions had on Homura, and not on Madoka herself?
How the fuck do you think she feels? Knowing everything all her friends have ever gone through? Unable to return to normal? Feeling so useless that she literally erased her person from earth to help those she cares for?
Its gotten to the point where it pushes my interest from the ship altogether, and is why i like KyoMadoSaya and MadoSaya more. ( This isnt even getting into the number of Homura glazers who can be so rude in their rants to anyone who disagrees with them but i digress. )
So, when someone says shit like this it grinds my gears because she's one of my favourite protagonists ever written.
No one ever ever gives her the actual credit, time, or appreciation for what she as a character went through, unless its to do with Homura, ( Sayaka a bit but its never heavy on their relationship since no one likes madosaya and platonic relationships apparently dont matter lol ) and its SOOOOOO annoying it makes me not wanna interact with the main fanbase.
