And stop with the women must be perfect little angels and flawless warriors bullshit. We women are humans just as flawed and inperfect as every other human being.
(You can replace women with fem presenting, because I see this happening to fem presenting characters as well. But it is the most noticeable with women characters in my opinion.)

"Agree with/ most of the points here, but sideeying the fact that there’s a “let women be feminine” but no “let women be masculine” because who tf is letting women be masculine."
This particular problem seems to be heavily geared toward advocating for a certain kind of portrayal, and pushing back against insistence that women always have to be "girlboss" strong etc, so I wonder if madculinity was left out not because of animosity towards masculine portrayals, but because it wasn't relevant to the point.

You are correct.
I wrote this when I was particularly annoyed at seeing "film critics" only seeing value in woman protaying masculine traits and tearing women characters that had any of the treats I described down. And saying that they would be better if they were more masculine.
I myself am a woman irl, that often is only valued for het masculine traits. That I am tall, the way I dress (because I am tall and there's often only can find masculine clothes my size, not because I want to dress like that), having studied in a very technical field filled with men, doing a "mans" job, etc.
So this particular vent is also kinda personal as a woman that is irl only valued and appreciated for her "masculine" side.
(I am more androgynous in my own opinion and perfer to be more feminine, but when I act and dress more feminine people are really mean and degrading towards me, and do this only when I wear cute feminine clothes and makeup. And I see the same thing happening in fandom towards women characters. )
(I think I also send in a vent about the treatment of masculine women characters at one point after this one. We will find out when it shows up.)
