I just read this article from 2017 and boy, was it enlightening! I especially love the Ensemble Darkhorse note as it describes Castiel to a T. Basically, the creators find a side-character that gets a lot of attention and then are put in the spotlight, and it doesn't go well (see The Man Who Would be King, or the whole S9 Angel storyline).
My favorite: Fan Dumb - "Then thereâs Fan Dumb. Fan Dumb is the underbelly, where Serious Business becomes obsession. They are the fans who claim to be the watchdogs of their fandom, but in reality, theyâre the dog in the manger. The key characteristics of a Fan Dumb tend to be someone with an overdeveloped sense of entitlement and/or victimization, and (usually) an underdeveloped sense of humor or perspective about the subject of their fandom, coupled with an obsessive level of an interest and (frequently) some rather irrational views on the whole thing."

Ok, since alot of us predicted that antis would turn on Rey the moment she did something they didnât like/agree with (like forgive or sympathize with Kylo Ren). And many of them (predictably) did and alot sooner than we predicted. I wonder if theyâll ever do the same to Finn if he ended up doing something that they didnât approve of. Like showing sympathy towards the people of the First Order specifically the stormtroopers. Or even accepting Reyâs possible relationship with Rey (even if he doesnât approve of it). Â
I mean given the intense hard-on this site has for Finn, I doubt there will be any negative, anti-Finn posts floating around. Or at least none that wonât be met with intense scrutiny from fans. And honestly thatâs great. The last thing we need is anymore character negativity.
Though I canât help but get the feeling that many of his fans on here arenât very satisfied with the direction that his character is going. Some of them donât even seem to have a proper understanding of his character.Â
I personally think that people will more than likely direct their anger towards Lucasfilm and Rian/JJ, if Finnâs characterization isnât to their liking.Â
(Yet they had no problem tearing Rey apart as a character and not just blaming the creators)Â Â Â Â Â Â
