🍻 “is there anything you regret?”
“Oh you’re funny. That’s what you are. You got an act at that gnome place?
Listen, if you’ve heard the story, you’ve heard the story, and you know she’s better off. Or if you haven’t, you’ll get a much better version from the girls at Le Monocle. I think they’re developing a pantomime with costumes.”
[Jack sort of oscillates between regret and relief when it comes to Nadja, as, of course, she deserves better. He’d be the first to admit that. To him that’s why he left.
As to the other potential options, he tends not to talk about the war in terms of regret so much as anger. He’s angry that he was stupid enough to let Reg go and he’s angry that he and his friends decided to follow and he’s angry that people like his brother and father decided any of it was worth it. That any of it was glorious or meaningful. Which is why he refuses to have regrets when it comes to his family. Regrettably they’re living in a shared delusion, but he’s chosen not to participate and feels just great about it. Thanks for asking.]
