I read this book in just a few hours the other day. Fallout by Todd Strasser is based around the concept that the bomb was actually dropped and this kid and his family (and their neighbors) have to spend 2 weeks surviving underground in a fallout shelter. And, it also has a bit of an anti-racism undertone as well.
