Very poignant indeed
This sentence is highlighted from the first time I read this book and I think this paragraph in particular holds a lot of weight to Elish’s character and his thought processes even if it’s spoken from the mind of a child. Given what ends up happening to Cristo (which is obviously such a big turning point in Elish’s life and shapes the way he trusts and views the world) just the knowledge that Cristo was so important to his early childhood development and Silas is such a jealous and sadistic monster that he’d take away someone Elish cares for so deeply in such a brutal way in front of him is also a stark reminder of how strangely Silas views his chimeras. As his property to do with what he wants. And it’s also a good view into how much Elish has been beaten down by Silas when you view his early childhood thoughts through the lens of what he’s like as an adult.
In #my EJRK AU E+J are married, that’s a given, and in a 24/7 dynamic because that would just make me happy AND I can totally see them being in that kind of relationship (it’s basically canon if you look past the whole kidnapping & slave thing anyway) I really think those two would resonate and find joy in having a super controlled and structured dynamic like that with lifestyle rules. I don’t think Jade is a lifestyle slave though I think he’s definitely a boy and sub and pet and brat though. Elish is THEE brat tamer of all time. Look at that man and tell me he doesn’t love brats. You can’t you’d be lying. And Jade is the ultimate brat.
I like to imagine their dynamic has a Free Use Jade clause as well. Elish is allowed to have him any time any place any way he wants and Jade can’t say no. I also think they’re the kind of couple to not have safewords. Unsafe insane and nonconsensual. But Jade also gives off rapeslut vibes canonically bc every time someone other than Elish rapes him he honestly kind of shrugs it off (except once but that’s only bc Elish was being raped too) and in canon whenever Elish rapes him he literally does not seem to care he’ll pout about it sometimes but then shakes it off like a champ. Truly a rapeslut idk! I like to imagine they do “cnc” but it’s literally just marital rape and they both enjoy it. They’re the craziest I love them

My main issue I’m having with finishing up this fic is Elish’s way of speaking is soooo difficult to mimic for me. I had a similar problem writing Zhongli when I was writing Genshin fic. Those two are very similar in the way they speak and present themselves (although they’re wildly different characters) it’s just hard for me to get a grasp on how to write dialogue for That Type ykwim
Started working on my ridiculous relationship analysis/text deconstruction for Elish/Killian last night and outlined all the chapters I want to include. I think there’s maybe 2 other people alive who would be interested in reading this but whateverrrr I’m doing it for the love of the game. I just need to get the thoughts and feelings OUT‼️
