"No, that you're actually gay," Amanda said [...]  "I refuse to believe it!"

"Well, I'm sorry to cause a burst to your little bubble, then," said Farrier.  "But I'm afraid that everything you're hearing is quite true.  I do prefer men." 

Collins' eyes widened when Farrier suddenly pulled him to the forefront.  Farrier slung an arm around Collins' shoulders and brought the man closer to him, as if to emphasize his point.

"And this...!" Farrier said.  "Is my better half, of course."
