Since Sam Wilson is injured from a failed confrontation with Supreme Doom, Carol calls up the Impossible City (the current space headquarters for Carol's Avengers) to teleport him. Before he could protest, Sam Wilson is sent to the sick bay of Impossible City to get some treatment. Sam Wilson is in the middle of being medically-treated when the Impossible City drones start to malfunction, leaving him and one drone alone in the medic bay. It turns out that another team of Masters of Evil (consisting of Mad Thinker, Madcap, Dreadknight, Mister Hyde, Exterminatrix and the rebuilt but unseen Quasimodo AI) had invaded Impossible City by disabling the security systems. As the Avengers (and the supervillains) are too busy dealing with Supreme Doom, the new Masters of Evil took their opportunity to invade Impossible City for their sinister schemes. Sam Wilson is alone with the remaining drone and despite his injury, he is determined to stop the Masters of Evil. Madcap is going around, spewing bubbles and causing chaos until Sam Wilson comes in with his new armor to stop him. The armor which Sam Wilson wears, is a drone fused with him so that it could help him stop the supervillains without hurting himself. Sam Wilson fights Madcap to a stand-still until he beheads the maniac with his shield. However, when Sam Wilson leaves the scene, the headless body of Madcap gets up and follows him.

What began as an inconspicuous heist has escalated into an all-out war as Kang the Conqueror’s armada fires upon the Grandmaster’s space-faring casino in a display of strength and ego. The Space Casino is under attack and Kang gloats at the Avengers before teleporting away with Black Cat. As the Avengers and the alien civilians are left behind to die, both Black Cat and the real Walter Hardy become disgusted with Kang for not caring about the lives on board of the space casino in the middle of a crossfire. Soon, the tables are turned when Black Cat uses her luck power to make Kang's ship malfunction. Also, the Avengers managed to teleport themselves and the civilians away from the crossfire. The Avengers defeat Kang and his soldiers as well as they take back the stolen item from Black Cat. Then, Grandmaster and Myrddin come in to declare that their game is over so their players - the Avengers, Black Cat, Walter Hardy, Kang and his army must return to their respective places. Kang yells at Grandmaster but he and his army are teleported away to wherever timestream they are from. Black Cat and her father, Walter Hardy, are teleported to the past while the Avengers are teleported back to the present-day only to find that things had changed when Doom is in charge.
