Fakiru Week 2025 @fyeahfakiruweek
Summer was in full swing in Gold Crown Town. People were walking outside, catching as much sun as they could before fall was inevitably followed by the cold days of winter. Fakir was currently walking around the market, browsing the different stalls and discussing prices. Meanwhile Ahiru was… wait where did she go?
Fakir sighed as he began to look around for her. One minute she was by his side, the next she had vanished. It should be easy to spot her. Not many people had the bright red hair she did and her cowlick, but unfortunately, Ahiru was a head shorter than everyone.
He looked around before spotting something that resembled her at the far end of the stalls. He made his way over there and sure enough, there was Ahiru. She was standing at a stall that was selling flowers. Fakir made his way over as he called out to her.
“Ahiru, there you are!” Said girl looked up at him and smiled.
“Oh, there you are Fakir! I’m sorry for wandering off. There’s just so much here!” she said, spreading her arms wide. Fakir had to admit, there was a lot going on. Not only were there stalls set up, there were street performers doing skits and families wandering around too. All and all, the main street was bustling with activity.
“Anyway, Fakir, look at these flowers! Aren’t they gorgeous?” Ahiru asked, bringing his attention back to the stall. It was true, there were many different kinds of flowers that the stall was selling. Violets, daisies, honeysuckle, magnolias, lilies, heliotrope, geraniums, roses; a large variety.
The seller smiled sweetly at them. “Oh my, such kind words. Thank you for stopping by and smelling my roses.” Ahiru and the seller giggled at her joke. Fakir softly chuckled. He noticed that she was also selling seeds too, and not just flowers. Vegetables, fruits, and small trees. The seller took notice and looked at him.
“Perhaps something to brighten your home with? I love fresh cut flowers, but something about planting it yourself just makes it better don’t you agree?”
Fakir looked at the seller and her stall. There was truth to her words. Fakir spent a lot of money on groceries, especially since Ahiru had returned to her human form. The way the seller said it reminded him of someone.
“Maybe we should purchase some seeds. What do you think Ahiru?” he asked, turning to her. Ahiru’s face immediately lit up.
“That sounds fantastic! I’ve always wanted to try my hand at gardening! Do you remember Freya? She always took care of the gardens on campus!” Fakir smiled and they started reaching for seeds. The seller was very helpful and recommended beginner friendly plants to start. Before they could leave, the seller stopped them.
“I know you said you haven’t planted before, but what about this one?” she said, holding out a packet of seeds. Fakir took it and read what it said.
‘Lotus Seeds.’ On the front there was an image of two lotus flowers, one pink and the other white. They were in a pond with lily pads and a dragonfly was flying by. Ahiru looked at the package and smiled.
“Ooohh. Fakir, they look so pretty! Can we try? It will be a fun learning experience!” Ahiru with an innocent expression. Fakir sighed and exchanged money for the seeds. Ahiru jumped up and down, chattering away about how pretty their new garden was going to look.
When they got back to the cottage, Ahiru immediately took the lotus seeds and followed the instructions that the seller gave them. She watched the seeds everyday, making sure that they were growing the way that the seller had told them.
Fakir just smiled and watched her. Planting their own garden was such a good idea. They could enjoy what they grew and grow along with them. Soon, the flowers would bloom and the pond would be filled with lotus flowers.
