I’m a little late to the party; just got back from vacation. Here goes.
I want to begin by saying that I have made fun of Faking It a lot over the last few years, starting with righteous fury at the idea of two girls pretending to be gay to become popular. But I fell hopelessly in love with the show, with Karmy, when I saw Amy’s horrified face at the end of the pilot episode.
Faking It has been infuriating, silly, unbearable, ridiculous. Characters (Wade, Theo, Sabrina, Oliver, Noah’s brother randomly appearing in the finale wtf?) weaved in and out of existence completely randomly, and some of the plot points were laughable. And for god’s sake Karma how many times do you have to feel the feels watching Amy kiss other people before you realize you have the feels for Amy??? How many times??????
But through the entire show, if I’m honest, Lauren was the character I kept coming back for. Her story was the most special, and her character was the most important. She did not put up with people’s bullshit, and she was the only character who would tell the truth consistently, even if it meant hurting someone’s feelings. Lauren’s story arc of self-discovery, if you ask me, was the most compelling—much more compelling than Amy’s. Amy questioned her sexuality throughout the show, but her problem was not that she didn’t accept herself; she just didn’t want to pick a label. Her primary mode of discovery was through her interactions with different love interests (of which she had plenty). But we got to see Lauren go through the process of accepting herself.
I’ve been saying this since the first season, and it has been true up until the very end: Lauren’s relationship with Amy is really the best thing about this show. As Amy accepted Lauren for who she was, we got to see the most beautiful change in Lauren. We got to see Lauren grow from manipulating and hating Amy to caring about her, to protecting her. Amy’s and Lauren’s relationship was built on mutual acceptance and respect. Amy and Lauren are my ideal brotp, and I wish they had gotten more scenes together.
Carter’s planned ending for the series is fucking ridiculous. Why would you build your entire show around one pairing, have them get together after the worst courtship in history, and then BREAK THEM UP??? Breaking up Karmy would completely erase the purpose of the show, which from the onset has been Karma realizing her feelings for Amy, and Amy never giving up on her feelings for Karma. Not to mention the other repercussions—another broken up f/f ship. Another one. I’m so fucking done with broken up f/f ships, with unhappy women-loving women. We have seen so much heartbreak for the characters we love, and the fact that Carter was going to play into that bullshit too makes me so angry. After Reamy, it became apparent that the show was just hurling love interests at Amy, which is just…honestly, in three seasons, Amy had more love interests than I can count on one hand, like oh my god Faking It get your shit together. Through them all, I was shipping Karmy (even when I was shipping Reamy). If Karma and Amy didn’t get together, and STAY together, there would be no show.
Other last thoughts: I am sad that we will not get to see Shane get over himself. Liam Booker is a pointless, useless character with a disgusting personality (his pairing with Lauren makes me sick). Noah deserved more screentime. I will miss this silly show.

But enough criticizing the current season, lets try to see what could be improved for the hopeful next season. For Starters lets have the show actually delve deeper into that band plot they introduced this year in 3A.
Focus on Karma, Noah, and Shane’s band, AND add Reagan to it.
Having Reagan interact with Karma both at work (cater waiter-ing) and in the band will add the much needed dynamic of giving Karma a strictly platonic and more importantly female scene partner to voice her many Amy-related concerns to in total confidence. Plus having Reagan show up again for band practice could add a nice bit of head-scratchy misleads to Amy about why her BFF and her Ex are spending so much solo time together.
Reagan is the Perfect Support System for Karma
Since the premiere of the show its become very clear that Karma is in desperate need of a support system. To be successful this needs to be someone who is in no danger of either:
Sleeping with Karma thus stealing focus from her journey
Sleeping with Amy, thus compromising the Karmy ship
Or sabotaging Karma’s trust by spilling her secrets.
Reagan is the only character I can see best positioned to deliver on all of these criteria and best serve Karma as a secret gay guru. Sorry Shane, Felix & Amy but you guys just don’t measure up here..
Reagan is someone who is distant enough from Karma/Amy while still being well apprised of ALL the drama surrounding them, and she is in the best position to guide Karma through her confusion WITHOUT betraying her trust like Shane inevitably would. Equally as important, there’s no danger of her becoming romantically involved with “straight girl” Karma OR her ex-gf Amy again since she’s seen the warning signs and is now providing a sympathetic ear to Karma’s own inner turmoil & doesn’t wish to further contribute to the mess.
In one fell swoop we’d reestablish Karma’s central conflict concerning the teased potential for Karmy romance, and give some much-needed depth to the Hester High universe by Re-purposing a much beloved character like Reagan in a new, yet highly essential role in the main plot.
Plus as an added bonus, Reagan could come to terms with her previously held limited worldview on Bisexual girls by witnessing the “Apotheosis of Karma” right before her very eyes. Redeeming her of that wrongly assigned biphobic label she’s been saddled with since her ouster last season
These are just a few of my thoughts on the matter and where I’d like to see the show to go towards getting back on track if we get another season. Reagan still has so much character potential left for me and Karma desperately needs a PLATONIC Female sounding board who isn’t Amy & who also isn’t in danger of falling for her.
The show’s move of dispensing of Reagan’s character out of hand and never returning to her is a wasted opportunity in my book.
Sorry I misunderstood I thought you were defending Sabrina as a character.
Oh Most Definitely I Am.
Until I get further info from the show I feel like there’s absolutely nothing so far that warrants the fandom blindly attacking Sabrina’s character for “Faking It” with Amy.
Its hypocritical for us to judge Sabrina more harshly for her actions when she seems to be doing much of the same things the rest of the cast have done (lying, plotting, starting relationships based on fake premises)
BUT she for real still has a long-distance boyfriend
Not to sound too callous and unfeeling here, but so what?
A steady stream of infidelity has run through this show since the onset. Karma has been cheating on Amy with Liam since the beginning of the series. Liam and Amy betrayed Karma at the end of season one.
If 3 of the 5 show leads can be redeemed after cheating on their partners why can’t Sabrina?
BUT Sabrina’s lying about her identity JUST to get closer to Amy.
And the problem with that is what exactly?
This is the same show that opens with Karma pretending to be spontaneously blind to gain favor with the school, then “make a triumphant return” as a gleaming, miraculously sighted popular person by Prom night.
BOTH Amy and Karma lied about their sexualities and pretended to be a couple for months on end, which eventually led to Amy developing concrete feelings for Karma.
I see no reason why the same can’t be true for Sabrina and Amy. What we know of Sabrina’s character so far is that she’s had a pre-established desire to become closer to Amy even way back long ago. There may be a deeper context at play here that explains the feelings of jealousy and the extremes to which her push for a closer relationship with Amy have taken shape in the present day. Knowing this show, its probably something that Sabrina herself may not truly understand yet.
That dawning realization could be, at the heart of it, a solid base for genuine feelings, much like what happened with Amy’s character in season 1 and what’s currently happening with Karma’s character from season 2 into season 3.
Also keep in mind Karma and Amy’s couple ruse had a much weaker reasoning behind it (Karma wanted to become popular & impress the most popular boy in school while Amy wanted to make Karma happy)
Whereas Sabrina seems to be doing all of this to become a closer friend to Amy than she’s ever been previously able to achieve due to Karma’s constant presence in Amy’s life.
Sabrina’s taking it WAY too far though, cutting out Karma.
Not necessarily. Desperate times and all…
We’ve been able to see how impenetrable Karma and Amy’s bond has become over 3 seasons now. It can withstand anything and leaves little space for new entrants.
Look at how Queen Bee Lauren Cooper was chewed up and spit out by the “hurts-so-good” emotional roller-coaster we affectionately know as Karmy just this season alone.
When Amy returned from her summer away, Lauren was adamant that Amy stand her ground with Karma and not apologize “Resist the urge to forgive, Jesus wasn’t right about everything…”
It was Lauren who insisted all along that the Hump Day video be released so that Karma be forced into home-schooling. It wasn’t enough for her that Karmy were already on the outs,
Lauren wanted to resort to overkill to eliminate Karma, keep Amy as her sister, & ensure her position as Amy’s new #1. But why?
Why was Lauren so scared that if Amy and Karma were friends again then she’d have no place left for her as Amy’s friend as well? Shouldn’t all of the progress they’ve made as sisters been enough of a comfort for her that their relationship wouldn’t change? Why didn’t she trust Amy’s assurances that she’d remain a priority in her life?
Because Lauren wisely knows that if Karma’s in the picture, then Amy may as well be blind, deaf and dumb to the rest of the world. She’s a textbook Karmasexual, she’s a Karma-fiend. Nothing gets through to her if Amy’s all “hopped up on a dose of Karma”
So its no surprise that when Karma and Amy got back on good terms Lauren and Amy’s previous closeness took a major step backwards, which culminated in Lauren moving out. I understand that their relationship is still much better now than when the series first premiered off, but its nowhere near as deep as it was during Karmygeddon and some of Amy’s most dire moments. And this is #QueenLauren we’re talking about here. Queen Lauren lost a battle…
Queen Lauren who single-handedly defeated Principal Turner’s school-board and rescued Hester from certain annihilation.
The same girl who interviewed on Huffington Post Live and became a viral video and social-media sensation.
Lauren, who is well on her way to successfully parlaying her “inspirational fame into an aspirational lifestyle brand”.
If the Goddess herself, Lauren Cooper is no match for Karmy how can any mere mortal stand a chance?
Its because of Lauren’s failure to make inroads with Amy that I can gain a better appreciation for Sabrina’s methodical approach.
With Sabrina, unlike the case with Lauren, this wasn’t her first “Karmy Rodeo”. Sabrina has plenty of memories from Camp Kichi-WaWa informing her decisions upon her surprise return to Austin.
Having firsthand knowledge of how impossible it is to gain any quality one-on-one time with Amy, that her bestie Karma can’t steal focus from & invade, Sabrina is wise to want to give herself an edge here.
A shared secret that she begs Amy not to spill to Karma is the perfect way in. I can’t hate the player when the game has been consistently rigged in Karma’s favor up until now.
And Sabrina making that secret a tacit admission that she’s “not so sure about her sexuality” is just the icing on the cake.
That’s the one area where Karma can’t reach her.The one place Karma refuses to go.
Because Karma is “Straight”
Like I’m sure a lot of viewers were, I have to say I was rather put off when I started seeing Karma’s character repeat the steady refrain of “I’m Straight” way back when in season 2…
Something about it really irked me…
To have a Major Character, and One-Half of the show’s Central Pairing state the ABSOLUTE opposite of what so much of the fandom and the viewers wanted to hear… It was like nails on a chalkboard every time they mentioned it. And they KEPT mentioning it time and time again.
But having Sabrina appear in this back half of Season 3 episodes as a perfect mirror to Karma except in that ONE way; I really like where the writers took this particular story thread, and I can appreciate the groundwork they laid for it now.
When you Break-Down Karma/Amy/Sabrina’s Commonalities:
All 3 girls share an earlier history that predates high school
Independently, Karma+Amy & Sabrina+Amy can get along extremely well and have an easy and extremely intimate rapport
But ONLY Amy and Sabrina have the shared experience of confiding out loud that they’ve been actively questioning their sexuality
On 2 out of the 3 bullets Karma and Amy are perfectly in sync but where Sabrina hits her is on that last bullet, which also just so happens to be the one that most directly pertains to Amy’s current state of mind and is the most recent and major personal development in her life as of late.
It’s a critical blow to Karma, and a perfect shot in the arm for boosting Sabrina’s appeal. She and Amy become further removed from Karma’s prying influence. Able to connect on a deeper more personal level than ever before.
For both Karma and Amy, so much of what neither Liam nor Reagan could measure up to as far as a Romantic partner goes, involved the depth of Karmy’s Past.
But with Sabrina, that point is largely moot. Sabrina, Amy, and Karma all share a past, so that’s no longer the defining obstacle here. If anything the Past becomes one of Karma’s more hindering qualities towards stopping the Sabrina/Amy pairing since in the more recent past, she’s been a key contributor to much of Amy’s pain.
Meaning Amy may seek out Sabrina even more aggressively because of the painful past she and Karma share, in the hopes that Sabrina may offer an escape.
As she stands now, Sabrina is previously unexplored by Amy as a potential love interest. She’s free of the devastation & disappointment that Karma’s been loaded down with over 10 years and multiple seasons, and can offer Amy an off-ramp that veers away from the looping “track that runs through her heart over and over again”.
For the first time ever, Karma will be the odd-woman out, unable to relate to or fully appreciate Sabrina or Amy’s experiences (unless there’s something she’s finally willing to confess). She’ll become the lowly “Third Amiga” who gets left behind in the shuffle..
Sabrina/Amy’s romance offers so much potential for this show for me.
Amy and Sabrina are already incredibly cute together. I never thought I’d like a pairing that stood in such direct opposition to the Karmy ship this much but I really do. Its such good fodder for other stories and parallels.
Sabrina is EXACTLY like Karma a liar, manipulator, clinically insecure and selfish person who uses complex schemes to serve her own means… HOWEVER…
Sabrina is also EXACTLY like Karma, a cute, funny, down to Earth girl from Amy’s past that makes her happy and could really have a future with her if she was willing to try
What if Karma lied, cheated-on and deceived Amy the whole time but realized she actually DID reciprocate her feelings in the end and turned those feelings into a real relationship. Well that’s who Sabrina is.
She’s the girl that runs the long-con on Amy. Faking girlfriends out of spite towards Karma and a greed for Amy, until she accidentally slips up somewhere along the way and starts to fall for her for real.
It’s all of the character development that Karma’s undergone, with the necessary addition of some real-world follow through on Sabrina’s part. Now Karma is forced to stand back and watch from the bushes as Sabrina takes advantage of her every missed opportunity with Amy.
Where Karma turned left Sabrina turns right. Where Karma stopped & changed direction Sabrina surges ahead. For Karma Its that cruelest form of torture to witness Sabrina easily avoid all her many pitfalls and mistakes and win Princess Sarcasm’s heart in the process.
Hopefully the show-runners can do Sabrina’s massive character potential justice…
Why are you defending Sabrina? She is just a plot device.
Well, Why are you attacking Sabrina? She is just a plot device.
No but seriously to address your question I defend Sabrina because she sets up a very welcome and interesting conflict for Karma.
The central premise of “Fake Sexuality” at the heart of Faking It is pushed to its furthest meta context with Sabrina’s introduction. Its really kinda beautiful that Karma’s actions are coming to a head now in her battle with Sabrina, the ONE person who could potentially jeopardize BOTH her platonic and romantic relationships with Amy.
And to have Sabrina steal Amy away from Karma by “Faking It”? Essentially using Karma’s OWN game to win “the person that means the most to her” and forcing Karma to reckon with her deeper feelings towards Amy and how no longer relying on Amy’s guaranteed affections may impact her going forward?
Its quite literally Karma in motion. It’s meta-storytelling at its best!
Having Karma’s hands be tied by the fact that confronting Amy with Sabrina’s deeper motives may backfire and at best Karma comes across as a jealous, selfish, hypocrite incapable of seeing her best friend move on & be happy with someone else? Come on that’s pretty juicy right there.
Its High Shakespeare! Ultimate Drama! Its the friggin’ Thunderdome!
Sabrina’s introduction raises the stakes on Karma and Amy’s “will-they/won’t-they” Status-quo. And to do so in a way that is such a satisfying bolt of poetic justice for all of the events that preceded it…
Again. I love your long posts but often you miss the point. Felix was never mean to Karma. In contrast Amy's female love interest are rude or just plain evil (Sabrina) to Karma. What Reagan or Sabrina storylines are gonna accomplish besides making Karma look good? After Reamy, Amy was the same, didn't develop and was back to square one regarding Karma.
Again thanks for the input, but again I have to disagree… (Oh brother, right?)
After REAMY Amy Developed Considerably-
Amy learns she can’t Change herself to Please somebody else.Something she didn’t realize in Season 1 or up to that point in Season 2. In general, Amy’s been a chronic people-pleaser, more frequently a Karma-Pleaser, and in her relationship with Reagan before its inevitable collapse she’s been a Reagan-Pleaser.
Amy deliberately hid the point that she may still be interested in guys from Reagan preferring to prematurely label herself as “lesbian” because she was fearful of the fallout she would endure if Reagan knew the truth.
Following her relationship with, breakup from, and final post-mortem advice by Reagan, Amy learns that she has to assert herself more loudly instead of cowardly deferring to others desired opinions of who she should be or stifling her own needs to satisfy someone else’s. It’s this realization that drives her to ignore Karma’s wishes and take off with Pussy Explosion for the summer.
Since the Reamy relationship, she’s been a bolder, braver, more fully realized Amy that includes accepting and acknowledging that a small part of her will always love Karma.
It was Karma’s initial rudeness that served as the catalyst for Reagan & Sabrina’s attitudes towards her, NOT the other way around.
Let’s just all keep that in mind here when discussing these feuds, From what we’ve been shown of her so far, Sabrina has never “had it out for Karma”. For that matter, Reagan has never “had it out for Karma” either.
It is Karma herself who has courted their scorn by steamrolling over any of their attempts at connecting with Amy either by consciously or subconsciously asserting herself as “The Quintessential Companion for Amy Above All Others”- accept no substitutes.
Don’t believe me? Let’s take a closer look…
Karma was Totally Out of Bounds on Reamy’s Communal Date
When Karma invited herself (against Amy’s wishes mind you) to the Reamy date in episode 2x07 Date Expectations, and monopolized the conversation the ENTIRE night. Reagan had to sit there and endure tale after tale of Amy and Karma’s long, storied, and tested friendship.
This was further exasperated by Reagan’s own girlfriend, Amy choosing to interject during the sole break in the dialogue & offer up EVEN MORE Karmy stories to stall Karma’s inquiries on how Liam, Regan, and Amy all know each other so well.
Reagan’s tether was strained to its limit when “Know-It-All” Karma insisted that Amy NOT eat Reagan’s suggested kale and choose her mushrooms instead. The resulting disastrous allergic reaction and Karma swooping in to save the day with Amy’s Epi-Pen (conveniently carried in Karma’s purse of all places), was the final straw forcing the young DJ to storm out of the restaurant.
In the face of so much overwhelming evidence, Reagan was legitimately threatened by this mysterious little overbearing redhead who she had no idea even existed before that evening.
From that night on & for the rest of the relationship, Reagan is put on defense, constantly trying to play catch-up with Karma’s 10 year head start when it comes to Amy’s affections.
I could go further here, but a picture’s worth a thousand of my puny words
Karma’s severely lacking first impressions with both Reagan and Sabrina leave MUCH to be desired in terms of politeness & respect.
Let’s take a look at Sabrina’s first impression of Karma:
You can complain to me all day long about how “mean and evil” Amy’s love interests are when it comes to Karma but the claims of those statements don’t line up with the reality of what occurred. Karma has consistently elbowed others out of the way, shuffling their wishes, feelings and priorities to the back-shelf when it comes to maintaining her standing with Amy.
Sabrina isn’t outright mean to Karma, at Camp Kichi-WaWa she fought with her childishly for sure, but her frustration then was justified since Karma injected herself between Sabramy at every opportunity completely derailing any progress Sabrina and Amy might have been making with their own friendship.
I love Karma’s character more than anyone, trust me. Even laying out her many faults in these analysis discussions, I still love her character. But when it comes to Amy, Karma rarely shows any consideration for anyone outside of the “Karmy” bubble.
One of her most endearing qualities to fans like us of the Karmy ship is that Karma Ashcroft herself has ZERO concept of personal space or boundaries in regards to Amy. Loving Amy is what Karma does, its who Karma is.
She can’t turn it off, its involuntary
Never forget…
Unfortunately for any of Ms. Raudenfeld’s potential love interests, this is one of Karma’s most frequently displayed character traits and may RIGHTFULLY be perceived as an act of aggression when its the very first behavior Karma chooses to display to them on their very first introduction.
Given all of these factors, it’s understandable that any woman who first encounters Amy’s BFF Karma may find her clinically off-putting and clingier than a dang Starfish.(that nickname works on so many levels…)
Labeling Amy’s female love interests as “Just Plain Evil” when they are simply responding in a very human and understandably jealous way to Karma’s constant barrage of boundary-blurring gestures is simply unfair and unwarranted.

In this scene we discover for the first time that Amy is definitively romantically predisposed to both lifeguards and Karma...
2x13 - Future Tense
Here we learn that Karma has had an established goal of wanting to become a summer lifeguard. Not sure when she developed this desire to seek out lifeguard as an occupation or whether or not it was spurred on by witnessing Amy’s whirlwind crush on that ‘mystery lifeguard’ alluded to in the diary entry that Shane skimmed.
2x20 - School’s Out
Following her tearful rejection of/by Amy in the 2B finale, Karma is seen arriving late for the first day of training as a pool lifeguard. While this may appear to be a seemingly innocuous coping mechanism, with Karma sticking to her back-up plan as a distraction for the crushing loneliness she was sure to endure without Amy around this summer... past evidence leads one to argue that Karma’s involvement as a summer lifeguard must be a subconscious attempt to win Amy’s affections upon her return next semester.
Combining her already notable charm and sway over Amy’s heart with that of Amy’s established Romantic predisposition towards water-safety workers, Karma’s insistence on moving forward & becoming a lifeguard (rather than relegating herself to a tearful, sobbing mess like she did following the rejection from the Season 1 finale...) is a deliberate move towards molding herself into a Mega-KarmaSexual Entity; attaining previously unmatched levels of irresistability, charm, and influence upon Amy’s return.
Faking It - Color Theory (Season 2B Spoilers up to 2x19)
This post is inspired by a line of dialogue that Karma gives at the beginning of episode 2x16 “Faking It... Again”
In the opening scene of “Faking It... Again”, Karma and Amy are at the Brew & Chew researching self help books on love and relationships among these are “Men Are From Mars... Women Are From Venus” ,“101 Ways To Make It Work : A 101 Step Guide”, “Nourish Your Love Nest”, and “Chakras of Love”. According to information gleaned from these books, Karma states that her love color is Teal and that Liam’s love color is Magenta. There’s been no official word yet on Amy’s love color but there’s plenty of evidence that points towards it being either silver or grey.
For example this tweet from Rita Volk’s account during season 2A:
In keeping with Karma’s tradition of de-mystifying her peers’ motivations through color theory, I’ve taken my best guess at each of the main cast’s personality color markers and how that better reflects their actions and characterizations thus far. Color trait info & quotations were found here
“Grey conforms ...It will never be the center of attention, the dynamic leader or the director - it is too safe and toned down”.
Amy’s role as sidekick in all aspects of the Karmy relationship; the Salt to Karma’s Pepper, the Moon to Karma’s Sun is exemplified by the color grey. Amy much prefers to stand back and observe & ridicule then to become part of the spectacle. Amy’s constant undercutting of the outside world through sarcastic humor and her self described label as “Princess Sarcasm” also reflect this.
Grey traits are commonly represented by a maturity and aloofness with regards to the outside world, this pertains to Amy’s lack of concern for popularity or the approval of her peers at Hester High School.
Silver is considered a more elegant grey. As such Silver is usually associated with Feminine energy/feminist sensibilities Amy’s eye-roll and immediate threat of bodily injury towards Liam after his chivalrous attempt at offering her the start of conversation with an ill-timed "Ladies First". Plus Amy’s hatred of the Rom-Com genre and love of the film Pitch Perfect for its "songs and vaguely feminist message".
”Silver characters have quick and intelligent minds. Silvers never stand about- they are constantly changing like the waxing and waning of the moon. Silver's lives always remain in a fluid state. They are lovers of the sea and have a great quality of endurance”
Amy has straight A’s and seems to be a highly intelligent student. Karma earned a B minus in yarn-arts... Silver characters have heightened thresholds for endurance either of struggle or relating circumstances. Amy’s extra long tether with regards to just how much of Karma’s Karma-ness she encourages is testament to this trait of endurance.
“Light grey is soothing and calming. It enlightens, saves and rescues those in difficult life situations.”
Amy’s role as Karma’s savior and her instinctive nature to come to Karma’s rescue when in difficult situations is one of her most notable and honorable qualities. This instinct began at the Homecoming Rally from the pilot, with her covering for Karma’s hesitation at nearly being fake outed by kissing her and continuing the ruse of being a couple.
Amy has also come to her stepsister Lauren’s aid when she faltered in the midst of outing Theo as a narc at the Baldwin High Pep Rally.
Its great to see Amy actually exhibit this protective behavior on numerous occasions in season 2.
In episode 2x02 “You Can’t Handle the Truth or Dare”, Karma falters when asked by Lauren if she is in love with Liam Booker, Amy sees this and rapidly tags into the fray, delivering a pointed query about Lauren’s hormone pills to the tiny blonde as retaliation
in episode 2x15 “Boiling Point”. When she publicly confronts Karma about the giant $250,000.00 Max Booker check, Amy sees Karma’s torn face, witnesses Liam’s angry outburst, and immediately regrets her decision, switching gears mid-accusation to defend Karma’s side & protect her friend from the volley of attacks being levied at her.
Oh and lets not forget this...
If that doesn’t scream HERO then I don’t know what does...
“Too much of the color gray creates sadness and depression and a tendency to loneliness and isolation. Add some color to change this.“
“With a personality color turquoise, you make a good boss, as you tend to influence others rather than be bossy and demanding.”
Amy and Karma’s relationship dynamic; Karma’s the planner and Amy’s the executor. While she is never outright bossy and manipulative of Amy, Karma seems more than well aware of her power over the blonde, and both girls seem quite comfortable in their roles as the cheery idealist leader and the sardonic loyal follower. While Amy more often takes the bossy tact with Karma, (forcefully dragging her away from Shane Harvey’s party in the Pilot episode), Karma’s perfectly honed hair flips, impeccably timed flicker of eyelashes, & an irresistibly sweet smile leave her more than well-equipped to mold Amy’s reluctant will to serve her own purposes in nearly every circumstance. Amy is never forced to comply with any of Karma’s schemes and she can opt out at any time, yet she rarely does so, preferring to stick it through by Karma’s side to their inevitable collapse.
“This is a color that recharges our spirits during times of mental stress and tiredness, alleviating feelings of loneliness.“
Karma's healing nature can be seen throughout the series most prominently in relation to Amy's distress. In episode 2x15 “Boiling Point” when Amy becomes car sick from Theo's driving Karma offers a common sense fix for her to stick her head out the window rationalizing it by saying “Dogs do it all the time, and they never get car sick”
Karma also nurses Amy's emotional state back to health following her breakup with Reagan in 2x13 Future Tense with an emergency dose of sleepovers, Sherlock marathons, and Totally-Platonic-Comfort spooning.
Amy is often seen resting her head against Karma's chest for comfort.
“Turquoise can also be self-centered, tuning in to its own needs above all others. At the same time, it can help us to build our self-esteem and to love ourselves, which in turn supports our ability to love others unconditionally.“
Season 1 Karma as juxtaposed with Season 2 Karma.
“You are trying to create balance in your life as you swing emotionally from one direction to the other. Although presenting a cool and calm exterior, and appearing to be stable and balanced, beneath the surface you may be in chaos, on an emotional roller coaster ride.“
This perfectly describes Karma’s main characterization throughout the entire series. Its a line she herself delivers in season one Episode 2 “Homecoming Out”,
“I was into this... Now I'm not.What can I say? I'm Mercurial.“
Or remember that heartfelt speech from 1x07 “Faking Up Is Hard To Do”...
“I don't know. What can I say? I'm confused.I don't know what I want. All I know is that I don't wanna hurt a guy who's truly great. And I don't wanna lose Amy, the person in this world who means the most to me.”
Karma’s Mercurial emotional pivot and her alternation between the respective poles of the Liam-Amy-Karma love triangle have defined her conflict throughout the series thus far. Being a Teal individual however, and very much unlike Amy, Karma rarely offers to us or any of her peers deeper insight into the emotional minefield that is her innermost thoughts. When she does share what it is she’s feeling or thinking with the outside world, the clearest point that she is able to convey is that of overwhelming confusion and self-doubt. Navigating such murky waters can seem like a daunting task for someone who just wants to be a “f@#k!ng teenage girl” Its not surprising that she much prefers to deny and suppress those chaotic & confounding emotions in favor of whatever stable facade she chooses to display to the world.
“A negative effect of turquoise is that it can cause people to be too aloof and to hide their emotional reactions.“
Following the confusing KaReAmyLiam dream of the season 2A finale, Karma has yet to voice her concerns or confusion to even herself, much less Amy, Liam or Reagan. All of whom were heavily featured romantic partners in the dream, all of whom she interacts with almost everyday either at home school or work.
At that spontaneous Cooper-Raudenfeld house party from episode 2x19, there were several false Karma’s on display; Girl Who Dates Bi-Guys Karma, Body-Shots Karma, Table-Dancer Karma, & Free-the-Nipple Karma. These well crafted exteriors seemed more palatable to her than acknowledging her own unhappiness or the truth- that the real Karma is a vulnerable, long-suffering young girl in dire need of a hug & some understanding.
“You're moving on, and so is Liam, and I'm still here.Sad, lonely, homeless Karma. And I didn't want to be her anymore.”
Karma’s decision to present a desirable, “Life-Of-The-Party” front to the rest of the world while her entire life seems to be in shambles is a perfect blend of the Deceptive and Idealistic aspects of Teal mixing together to form a well crafted coping mechanism of denial. Having a best friend that knows you better than you know yourself however lent little authenticity to the ruse and Amy saw right through it from the onset stating confidently that Karma just “was not that type of girl”
“A combination of red and violet, magenta contains the passion, power and energy of red, restrained by the introspection and quiet energy of violet.“
”Despite being impulsive and innovative, with magenta as your favorite color, you do tend to be practical, with a great deal of common sense.”
While highly impulsive in many of his actions e.g. sleeping with Amy, trashing his sister’s engagement party, destroying his Sqwerkel offices and moving out of home), Liam's repeated tendency to deliver pointed helpful advice to his friends is highly indicative of his Magenta nature. He quickly counsels Amy to chase after Reagan following her Anaphylaxis triggering exit of that disastrous group hang from episode 2x07 “Date Expectations”. Similarly Liam poses that Lauren avoid resorting to plots & schemes such as that of a staged kiss between them designed to generate jealousy in Theo, Mr. Booker instead suggesting that she need only be honest with herself and with Theo about her feelings to go after what she truly wants
In episode 2x16 “Faking It... Again”, Liam again counsels Lauren that she need not be too harsh on her father Bruce Cooper & his awkward, yet endearing attempts to show his love & support for her intersex condition. Liam also states that his parents have showed no such concern for his whereabouts or well-being in the 2 weeks since he abruptly moved out of Casa de Sqwerkel and into Shane Harvey’s House
“Magenta helps to release old patterns of thinking and behaving that no longer serve you, helping you to grow and move forward to greater balance“
This relates to Liam Booker’s evolution into a monogamous “I’m so full of Integrity that I no longer sleep with my Ex-GFs’ BFFs” type of guy. A rejection of his title as “Hester’s own Hugh Hefner”. Following both of his short-lived secret & then public relationships with Karma, Liam Booker has now developed... FEELINGS & he no longer desires to be the hookup king of Austin. Save for a failed attempt at the PFLAG Hoedown to reclaim his Lothario ways, he is simply no longer that guy anymore. This is one personality change that has been long overdue and is more than welcome.
“Being surrounded by too much magenta energy can generate arrogance and bossiness making us feel overwhelmed, irritated, anxious and intolerant.“
Some of Liam’s most unsavory traits, his arrogance and impatience tend to paint him as selfish, intolerant and unsympathetic to those around him. In an argument with Liam Booker the boisterous and demanding aspects of Magenta are on full display. This could explain why he is so quickly angered when dealing with Karma and their many relationship issues. It also explains Liam’s impatience and frustration with Karma’s inability to forgive him for sleeping with Amy. Rather than giving Karma adequate time to process her feelings he resorts to finger-pointing and cries victim, all the while berating her for not letting things go.No bueno dude.
“An excess of magenta energy can be balanced by introducing green into your surroundings...”
SHANE = GREEN (Nurturing, Good-Listener, Practical, Envious, Judgmental, Possessive, Inconsiderate)
“[GREEN] loves to observe, and therefore relates to the counselor, the good listener, the social worker.“
As typified by Green Shane is often shown in the role of the counselor, lending a sympathetic ear to Amy’s woes. He nurtures her through her sexual confusion and fosters a safe haven for her to express any insecurities she may have with him.
While a great place for Amy to voice her Karmasexuality concerns, Shane is a well-traveled realist & a pragmatist. He will often take the wind out of Amy’s sails and plant her expectations firmly back on the ground should she stray too far from reason with her romantic daydreaming.
“Green with envy' is a common phrase and a negative reaction to the color green.“
Shane is shown to be envious of Lauren's social status at Hester High and remains in constant competition to take her down. Its the driving force behind him nominating Karmy for Lauren’s homecoming Queen crown in the pilot, for outing Lauren’s hormone therapy medication to the whole school in the season one finale, for dating her fundamentalist camp buddy and dance partner Pablo when she explicitly warns him against doing so, and for abruptly undermining Lauren’s previously uncontested presidential run in the season 2A finale.
In the episode 2x11 premiere, when Amy initially alerts Shane of the presence of Felix as Karma’s “New G.B.F.” Shane becomes instantly jealous wondering whether or not Felix’s snazzy retorts, fashion sense or overall cute-factor are on par with or may jeopardize his own.
“On the negative side, the color green can be possessive and materialistic, with a need to own people and things.“
Shane is also seen as selfish in his pursuit of bespectacled bisexual Wade. Prior to & during the "Thruple Date" with Karma, Shane schemes to sabotage the previously agreed upon plan of equally sharing time with Karma and lobbies several threats at her as he is convinced that “the Bi label is just a step in the coming out process” for guys. Karma wisely calls out his hypocrisy but Shane remains pretty tone-deaf to her argument.
“Green Represents Growth: As in nature, green leaves are an indication the plant is still growing.“
Shane’s inconsideration of other peoples secrets, personal wishes, and best interests is a long-running character flaw that he and the other characters have only recently addressed thanks to the healing power of Principal Turner’s Saturday group detentions. Thankfully for Shane and all of those that may come to encounter him, the color green is also highly symbolic of growth. Saying someone is still “green behind the ears” means they have much more room to change and become a better, more fully realized and experienced version of themselves. Let’s hope Mr. Harvey can cultivate the better angels of his personality and overcome his more baser failings to become the G.B.F. that we deserve.
LAUREN = GOLD (Royalty, Luxury, Prestige, Trust-Issues, Mean Spirited,Falseness)
Lauren is often seen ensconced in gold jewelry and accessories. This one’s pretty obvious, remember that Prom theme she spearheaded...
“Gold is the color of success, achievement and triumph. Associated with ... prestige and sophistication, value and elegance...“
Unsurprisingly, gold and Lauren Cooper herself are often associated with royalty and the ruling class. Lauren is Queen of Hester High, the undisputed HBIC and we are but her lowly humble subjects.
“Confident, passionate and eye-catching, gold draws attention to itself.“
Lauren loves to show off and she never backs down from an opportunity to be the center of attention. The one caveat being those cases where she has shied away from the spotlight when the focus is placed on how she developed rather than who she really is.
“As a personality color gold, you have a sophisticated approach to life with high ideals and standards - you know exactly what is right and what is wrong and endeavor to follow the right.”
Lauren’s handling of the incident at the Glen Capri Motel and the resulting fallout really highlighted her elevated sense of justice: “Keeping Farrah's secret is wrong. And claiming it's to keep our family together doesn't make it right.“
“I'm done lying to my dad. It wasn't fair of me to keep this from him, and it wasn't fair of you to ask me to. He deserves to know the truth. And he needs to hear it from you.“
“Being surrounded by too much gold can lead you to become egotistical, self-righteous and opportunistic in your quest for greater power and influence.“
These negative characteristics fit Lauren’s personality like a permanent-ink-obscuring glove. Her quest for more power and influence at Hester High can drive her to rather extreme and ruthless measures. Through it all she maintains that classic Cooper bravado though.
Individuals associated with gold may not trust others often or easily. Lauren’s lack of trust is best exemplified by her heartbreaking speech to Theo in 2x10 Busted;
“I opened my heart to you! I don't open my heart to anyone! I trusted you!“
“Negatively speaking, Gold individuals will also attain false friends or gilded wealth based on pretense and insincerity”
Lauren’s gilded nature extends to that of her prim and proper Queen Bee persona, perpetually disaffected by Hester High’s Kumbayah mission statement, Her need to express an ultra-feminine sensibility and to display her heightened stereotypically-girlish perfection to such degree is informed by her intersex status. At the start of the series she is uncomfortable in her own skin because she was born differently and now having attained the social status and prestige she so deeply craved she is conflicted since it was gained as an idea rather than because of who she is as an individual.
Everyone hated her before her outburst at Theo went viral around school and now that they know her secret, they have all chosen to celebrate and reward her. Lauren hates being pitied or treated like a mascot. She even turns down the Clement University college recruiter since it seems she only gained a spot in the Summer Scholars program because of her body.
Save for Theo, Amy, Karma, Liam & Shane- Hester and Clement have reduced Lauren to an ideological mascot (yet another social cause to be championed for) and have stripped her of her person-hood.in the process. This feeling that her victory is fraudulent and her need to set the record straight on who she is and what she’s all about drives nearly every action Lauren makes towards her reign as student body president under Principal Turner’s new regime.
I had to use two colors for Reagan since she’s quite hard to place in just one category and she has traits that extend beyond one color group, I guess that’s why her hair hue changes so often.
“Violet is unconventional, individual and original. It hates to copy anyone else and likes to do its own thing.“
Between her vibrant hair color wild fashion sense and bad-ass attitude, Reagan could care less what anyone else thinks about her and hates marching to the beat of another’s drum. Reagan’s unique bright outlook position her uniquely as ray of hope in an otherwise stormy landscape. Her main issue with Charlotte was that she felt used and secret, even now, long after their relationship dust has settled- Reagan feels pain at being introduced to her ex’s new boyfriend as merely a friend. Reagan is made to feel cheapened by this label
“Orange offers emotional strength in difficult times. It helps us to bounce back from disappointments and despair, assisting in recovery from grief... Orange represents Divorce. The optimism of the color orange helps people move on - it is forward thinking and outward thinking.“
Reagan’s character is first introduced to serve as a roadblock for the potential Karmy relationship but she also represents hope and happiness for Amy following the devastation that was young Ms. Raudenfeld’s character arc in season one. She is a welcome oasis in the desert of romantic reciprocity for Amy and a beacon of light during a bleak period for the blonde. As a foil to Karma, Reagan offers Amy an escape from her and Karma’s seemingly endless cycle of miscommunication, screw-ups and hurt feelings.
“Violet can be impractical, with its head in the clouds rather than having its feet on the ground. It tends to see life as it imagines it, rather than how it is.“
Reagan is a hopeless romantic, who is rather admirably able to lay her soul bare despite painful heartbreak in the past. In her relationship with Amy, she is lovey-dovey and adorable in her devotion, unafraid to be the love struck head-over-heels goof that she is at heart beneath her cool leather jacket exterior. She falls fast and burrows deep into Amy’s love nest, spending most every night at the blonde’s room, fostering an ever stronger bond between them.
Unfortunately for Reagan, this honeymoon phase default setting immediately falters when reminded of the tiny red-headed baby elephant in the room- Karma Ashcroft. Reagan can sugarcoat and imagine any number of fantasy daydreams of how cute and perfect her and Amy’s relationship is, but until Amy is willing to fully commit to actually being in it with her, their connection will always waver when pitted against the 10 year unshakable bond of Karma and Amy’s “Epic Gal-Paldom”.
“Orange is optimistic and extroverted - the color of the uninhibited.“
While she may be older than the bulk of the cast at 19 years old to their 16-17, Reagan is shown to be quite a bit more immature and jovial than them as well. She has a wide-eyed enthusiasm to her that is a welcome change from the rest of the Hester alum with their colossal high school melodramas constantly weighing on them;(A condition that Felix dubbed the “hot-tub party that got a little too real” crisis-of-the-week syndrome). If she hasn’t established firm roots yet, Reagan seems to run from high-drama preferring to keep to an optimistic, fun-loving, and free lifestyle.
Its worth noting that Reagan didn’t go to college yet she remains highly supportive of Amy’s academic pursuits. She knows that Amy wants to major in film & documentaries & encourages Amy to travel the country with her to make a documentary film of the tour with Pussy Explosion rather than staying in Austin for the summer and cultivating a resume for Clement University’s Summer Scholars program. While the rock and roll lifestyle may be fun and seductive it is far less grounded than Grey Amy’s previous focus of extracurriculars & college preparation.
Reagan is honest, forthright, and candid, all traits that neither Karma nor Amy possess to great degree. And unlike the rest of the cast, Reagan is not inhibited by a bevy of secrets that may surface at any moment.
“The Deepest Need of a personality Color Purple is for emotional security“
Reagan is highly emotionally vulnerable with Amy while her partner Amy has remained far more emotionally and conventionally available to Karma, Shane & even Lauren. This coupled with Amy’s repeated lies of omission, didn’t serve the Reamy relationship or Reagan’s peace of mind very well at all.
Reagan’s constant need for reassurance and security in regards to her and Amy’s relationship speaks to her immaturity, and an emotional dependence that’s typified by a blend of the colors Orange and Purple.
The most troubling issue she has as a character may be that she chooses to Fake It, that being faking her level of ease and comfort with Amy & Karma’s slightly more platonic friendship in order to salvage the Reamy relationship. She repeatedly stifles her own feelings putting Karmy’s happiness first out of obligation to her and Amy’s overall stability & well-being. She ignores Amy’s constant deceptions for as long as she is able in an attempt to maintain the peace. In spite of these peace-taking measures and the exhaustive patience that Reagan affords Amy, her truthful unencumbered nature pushes against keeping silent & she voices the many valid critiques she has of the blonde’s behavior directly to her on several occasions. These blowups are usually quelled,(however temporarily), by a show of grand affection on Amy’s part.
This insecurity is one of the contributing factors but is in no way the sole reason for the breakdown of the Reamy relationship. Reagan is justifiably worried when it comes to a future with Amy since blindly entrusting her heart to girls with unclear directions has hurt her in the past.
Amy’s indecision and aversion to conflict with voicing her true feelings about her sexual identity stand in opposition to Reagan’s honesty and her “In For a Penny, In For a Pound” direct nature. Reagan risks it all on a possible future with Amy while Amy gets to play it safe with feet in both Reagan and Karma’s respective camps.
The threat of Karma looms too large overhead for Reagan to ever truly be convinced that she and Amy are a strong unit, and given her past experiences with wishy-washy women like Charlotte, who claimed she was “just a phase” Reagan’s internal cynicism further feeds those insecurities about herself and her partners.
Given what we know about Reagan’s self-assured, out and proud nature, her having a girlfriend such as Amy with ceaseless middling and fence-sitter qualities was more doomed from the start than either of them may have realized. There’s something to be said for the indecision of youth but knowing that Reagan has been hurt by girls who have “changed their mind” with her in the past, Amy should have made a more firm set of decisions sooner rather than later to show Reagan definitively that she was committed to their relationship.
“Being the free spirit you are, you love to travel to experience different cultures and meet new people.“
Her free-spirited and adventurous risk-taker traits are embodied by Reagan’s planned tour with Pussy Explosion. This opportunity with the band offers a huge new step in her foray into the music world, granting her wider exposure and a much larger platform towards gaining notoriety as a DJ. Reagan’s notable lack of hesitation or nervousness over the decision to tour and perform should serve her remarkably well in her pursuits as a musician. Good Luck Reagan!!
THEO = WHITE (Confident, Fairness, Heroic, Rigid, Cautious, Isolated)
“Rescuer: White rescues us from the dark. It is the white knight, rescuing the damsel in distress.“
Theo is shown to exhibit highly chivalrous and heroic traits in his interactions with the main cast & with Lauren Cooper in particular. In episode 2x02 When Shane gets into an altercation with Bubba at the “Bait & Tackle” Bar, on mere instinct alone Theo throws a highly reactive punch which initiates a barfight. His innate heroic quality overrides most anything else trumping his highly cautious nature as well.
In episode 2x06 When Lauren calls Theo in a manic drug-induced state he springs into action yet again to rescue her from the accidental ecstasy overdose.
“Having a personality color white means you are neat and immaculate in your appearance, in the presentation of your home and in your car, almost to the point of being fanatical.“
This explains Theo to a T, he is nothing if not immaculate in physical appearance with his super-cop shades, tucked dress shirts, and starched collars, and that’s when he’s not even in his police uniform.Theo takes very good care of his police cruiser and is shown highly concerned when Amy’s impending-vomit-face rears its pretty head, forcing him to rush off to procure water for her while pleading that she “Pleeaase don’t puke in the car”
Theo and the color white are very conservative and stable, his position as a police officer and the hard line he takes on drugs are indicative of this.
Theo's stance on the wrongness of drugs is so firm he even arrests Karma for suspicion of distribution along with her parents, citing to an outraged Amy Shane and Liam that its “Nothing personal guys”. Theo may like Karma and the rest of his peers at Hester a great deal but the professional side of him overrides any loyalties he may have to them (the only exception here being Lauren Cooper as he never sought to punish her when she was affected by ecstasy a few weeks earlier).
On that professionalism note however, his entire relationship with Lauren seems to violate and jeopardize quite a bit in both the professional and personal spheres of his life. I’m really hoping here that staff dating students is at the very least frowned upon @ Uber-Liberal Hester High (ever since Sasha Harvey showed up it seems like they’re playing fast & loose with consent laws on this tv show...). The rest of the school hates him after his drug bust of the AShcrofts and chain reaction of policy and administration changes that his actions have prompted, and its stated numerous times that Theo could lose his job if his relationship with Lauren is found out.
On the other hand, we see that Theo is a stickler for rules when convenient to him, as he abides by the speed limit and refuses to frivolously use his cruiser's police siren until Shane prompts him to do so, citing that "There are strict guidelines regulating the use of the siren". Rather amusingly after caving to Shane's demands that they hurry up and book it to Duke's gym before his plane departure, Theo mutters aloud that he "Better not lose his job over this..." Not exactly the rule-breaking infraction you should be concerned with here, Theo...
“Many people use white as a recall of their youth and innocence. It reminds them of a time when their lives were easier and less complicated.“
Theo’s role as undercover policeman of Austin Texas’s Jump-Street Division seems to have him locked in an unending cycle of reliving high school. While he is initially placed at Hester and Baldwin to bust the illegal drug crime, it’s pretty easy to see that he actually enjoys attending the campuses & socializing as a student. At Hester Theo makes friends with Liam & Shane quickly and easily, and even hangs out with them outside of school. While this may just be a means of gaining trust to eventually score leads on any local drug vendors, its worth noting that after earning their confidences, Theo never follows up with either of them on the whereabouts of any drug activity.
Also at Baldwin High, Theo, (known there as “Jimmy”) is a star basketball player. He appears to be of considerable merit to the team since not only is he the final player to be announced (in keeping with the tradition of saving the best for last), but he also dons the Number 23 a reference to his Michael Jordan level baller skills.
“Too much white can cause feelings of isolation and emptiness; it can be too pristine and immaculate, making you feel as though you can't make a move for fear of upsetting it or creating a mess. “
This note about white perfectly applies to the Theo/Lauren relationship post their episode 2x13 reconciliation and to the concept of the character Theo as a whole. This new covert dating arrangement leaves Theo & Lauren with their hands tied and their interactions restricted to five-minute intervals so that the outside world doesn’t become suspicious. They must maintain secrecy and isolation to protect Theo from suffering ramifications from his job & possibly the law. Lauren Cooper herself realizes that no matter how perfect or romantic Theo’s secret Hester Art Storage Room Prom may be, the fact that she has to keep him a secret for 2 more years is too wide a gap to manage given that she is now living her truth with regards to her being born intersex. No matter how much they may both love each other, the timing and their own personal convictions and responsibilities have halted their potential for progress & growth as a couple. They are stalled by so many external conflicts that any further pursuit of the relationship could wield mass destruction on all sides. The least destructive, yet still considerably painful option, is merely for them both to go their separate ways and end things here...
FELIX = BLUE (Integrity, Calm, Loyalty, Concern, Self-Pity, Passive, Depressed)
Amy herself states that she “Likes [Felix] in blue”.
“You are not impulsive or spontaneous - you always think before you speak and act and do everything at your own pace in your own time. You take time to process and share your feelings.“
In the short time we’ve gotten with Felix we can see that he is quite emotionally attuned to the moods and feelings of others. His mother’s passing may have contributed greatly to Felix’s more frank and honest nature. Unlike pretty much any other character we’ve been introduced with he is not on-board with instantly resorting to schemes or lies, often choosing truth first. The rare exception being his in-depth Sex-Education talk with his father, Principal Turner, which he initiates and prolongs to serve as a diversion tactic for the rest of the gang.
Also when Felix agrees to Amy’s prom scheme he shortly thereafter questions her specific motivations behind asking him, receiving a direct honest answer from her. Felix’s growing crush on Amy further eases his commitment to the date however on Prom night, Felix has yet another burst of candor and states that considering his growing feelings for her, the whole fake-date thing was a bad idea, earning him an over-eager & impetuous kiss from Amy.
“Blue is conservative and predictable, a safe and non-threatening color, and the most universally liked color of all“
Felix has shown to have a proven role as a stress-reducer amongst our Hester Heroes. he can easily switch between either nerdy comic relief or a much needed sounding board for more melancholy feelings of the main group.
While he has developed a slightly adversarial relationship with Karma establishing a bicker-driven pseudo sibling rivalry, he has also been a shoulder for her to cry on following her most recent & devastating breakup with Liam Booker.
Amy feels well at ease to share with Felix every burning concern she has over Karma’s pivot to exceedingly reckless behavior. Regardless of the fact that they are now presumed dating following their Prom night feelings cushion arrangement.
”Blue personalities embody the saying ‘ still waters run deep.’"
Beneath all the snark and bluster Felix has a lot going on that we’re not all that clued into yet. His tendency towards depression and self-pity make mixing alcohol with a moody Felix quite the dangerous combination.
This one's for me-loves-karmy, here's what I got so far...
In season 1, the mannequin in Amy's Room has a damaged head with no discernible facial features beyond his hair, also the left arm had a crack spanning the entire length of it and was missing a hand. His face was adorned with a diver's mask and an orange and purple lei decoration was worn around the neck with a beige grass hula skirt around his hips. The mannequin also seemed to serve as a bit of a message board/ morning routine checklist as some of the blue & yellow Post-It notes affixed to the body read "STOP!" & "Back Pack" in addition to "Go Away!!", "Really !", "Not So Fart" (- one of Amy's stupid fart jokes that Karma loves hearing), "i ❤ u" (written vertically), and a Post-It note that simply has drawing of three flowers on it. Also there is a Yellow note affixed to the right arm that says"Amy" in fancy-ish script handwriting with 9 stars drawn around it.
In season 2, the damaged mannequin head has been replaced with one that has a clearly defined nose, eyes & facial hair. It also no longer wears a scuba view mask, the Post-It notes have been removed and he now dons one of Amy's bras. Amy also drapes her "runner-up" sash from the Miss Teen Cactus Flower Pageant over the mannequin at the end of episode 2x08, "Zen and The Art of Pageantry"
If y'all haven't guessed I've been compiling my Faking It Viewer Notes, Tropes again for Season2....
