I push back against these statements. The right way takes years and money that people don't have. Seeking asylum is a legal path of entry. Who fucking cares if pup is a dog we are all being put in camps. We should demand our government serve us not allow them to commit genocide. Trans people and pocs have always had to fight to be in this country. There never were good ole days. Man made climate change is actively killing people. COVID is still killing people and long COVID is debilitating.

Discrimination does not have to be systemic or on a societal level to still be discrimination.

If you understand blonde jokes are discrimination but that blonde people still aren't oppressed, then you already know this.

If you understand that "thin shaming" is discrimination but that thin people aren't oppressed like fat people are, then you realize that discrimination can be on different levels and still be discrimination.

So when someone points out your shitty behavior towards men or any other group that we in progressive spaces view as acceptable targets for hatred, judgement, stereotyping, and harassment, that person is not telling you that non-marginalized men are oppressed. They aren't claiming that non-marginalized men "have it worse than women." They aren't even saying anything about women in the first place.

What they're saying is that you're a shitty human being who believes discrimination is okay as long as it's against the groups you wrote as exceptions in the fine print of your "activism."

Pretending that people who talk about misandry or whatnot are saying "men are oppressed" or "non-marginalized men suffer as greatly as women" is just a strawman argument, a logical fallacy, and you know that too. You just can't stand the thought of not being allowed to throw your self-righteous anger and abuse at anyone you can justify with fake progressive language.

And if you did truly give a fuck about the oppressed groups you say you do, then you would start acknowledging how accepting discrimination against privileged identities harms the people in the very group you care about. But I guess it's hard for you to give a shit about that because the people most harmed by your behavior and ideology are parts of marginalized communities who you already support the exclusion of.

To you, it's a win-win. You get to use excuses to hurt people so you can satisfy your need to take out your anger on random strangers. And you get to aid your exclusionism of transmascs, mspec queer people, asexuals, aromantics, biracial people, mentally ill people, and everyone else you insist isn't "oppressed enough."

It's sad that I even have to mention that. Because not only is this obvious information that you just choose to ignore, but it's also fucked up that I have to convince you to have compassion for people by making this about how you are affected by the discrimination that you dole out. You know that not doing so will cause you to lose your grip on the higher end of the social hierarchy ladder present in progressive spaces, so you desperately try to prevent actual progress so you can keep your position.

It's time to acknowledge that, just like everything else about this world, the concepts of oppression, discrimination, and privilege are not rigid boxes with no overlap or blurring. You can't "us vs. them" your way to an equal society. People aren't one-dimensional characters assigned to strict roles of "good guy" or "bad guy" in a play of your own device.

Racist? Seinfeld’s one of the first and few shows that avoided stereotypes for cheap laughs. African- Americans were shown as successful and equals and not negatively stereotyped as done by popular media at the time. Homosexual men were not portrayed as insecure or whiny but tough.
