Synopsis
The story is about 2 main characters that are followed during a few of their milestones in life. The time period will most likely be from late high school to worklife. The setting will be an average north american city. The basic idea of the theory of quantum in this story is that when people make a decision, an alternate universe is made to compensate the other choice(s) that could have happened. When a character makes a choice, there will be a visual representation of a split in the timeline to the other choice. The visual will be a played out scene that the character made a life changing choice when walk off frame and seamlessly re-acting the scene of the character not making the choice. The version of the character that made the life changing choice will linger off the film's main story and will follow the non-changed character. In between the scene of choices, there will be scenes of the main character struggling with their art decision making companied with critical monologs on decision making.
The idea of fate is played on the 2 meeting and sharing a kiss. There will be an event that brings the 2 characters together. They go to a concert event for inspiration for their art. They eventually meet at the event by some sort of interaction (that has not been thought through yet) They bond and talk over the event. They talk about their art its and talk about their struggles and interests in it. They discuss and help each other's art problems though their night discussion. There will be a time when the camera goes around the event space and will show alternate characters of the two that tailed form the main story and they will meet and bond. Showing that in an alternate universes, they still meet and bond in the same space and time. ( if time and budget is available there will be scenes in the alternate universe where the charters are different, meet and bond different and the event is different but in the same time and space. example, main timeline is a punk show, while one timeline can be the charters are academic professionals and are at a gala and the band is playing classical music.) There will be a scene when they are alone and kiss and when that kiss is leading up, there will be a visual representation of fate by showing the alternate characters merge in the same space and time for the moment of the kiss. The merging kiss shows that even with the all the possible choices and outcomes that could have made, they where meant to be together there and then. After the event, there will be a conclusion where the characters solve their art problems and life decision problems.
Character Synopsis
Avy
He is a high middle class male that is hobbyist musician that is struggling with his musical progress. He has a hard time sticking with decisions in his musical choices. He keeps thinking of all the possible instrument, genre and note choices and he can't make his mind over and gets overwhelmed and doesn't compete a song or project. He has a supportive father that will give him anything he wants, so Avy has a collection of virtually all instruments to make songs. His father is also willing to help with Avy life path he decides to take. Avy as the resources to make any song and grow up to be anything he wants. The problem is that he has a problem to sticking to one choice and feels guilty because he's think he's not that talented and hard working but can do anything he chooses to.
He learns from Xiu that not choosing a choice is a choice and life will continue wither without you making a choice. it's better to make a choice then drift thought life not following through something. Also that having to many options is better then limited options.
His conclusion is that its better to make a choice then to drift and you have the option to change choice when you can and be grateful of having many options. His art/life choice is that he becomes a noise musician so he is not stuck to one interment, note argument, genre. Also the element of random note intrigues his idea that a choice is already made so might as well make a choice for choice sake. The idea of playing different notes and sounds each concert interests him then playing the same notes and sounds every time. He also wants to make social events where people gather and it being a catalystic space of human interactions.
Xiu
She is a lower middle class female that is a struggling hobby video artist. She has problems that limited to money and equipment for ideas she has. She also has problems with being limited to her income, family history, her surroundings, and storytelling rules. She will be put in situations where her gender, race and economics limit her choices. She gets furious that external factors inhibits her internal desires, with videos and life choices. She starts to give up as she starts to think her external factors play a bigger role then herself in choices.
She learns from Avy that her surroundings and interactions is what she makes of it. With the surroundings and limitations, unique decisions are made that could possible only exist because of the limitations and surroundings. She as the choice to try and change the preconceptions that she has to deal with and use them to her advantage. Also its a choice to bring awareness to the limitations people face and hope it has a less of an effect later on.
She learns that limitations are part of choice making and trying to think how to over come her limits on decisions and that situations and external preconceptions change if you help make it change. Her life/art choice is she take up mixed-media film and animation. she is interested in the freedom of drawing shapes to tell stores but the realism of film and physical surroundings to tell stories. She can tells stories that bring awareness the limits in life and to look beyond them and stories about being able finding internal happiness in terrible surroundings.
