Getting to L.A. had been the easy part; something she hadn’t considered in the slightest. Living in her car, getting a bad paid job and being essentially vulnerable to any ill-intentioned person that came her way... well, it was as hard as she had initially expected.
But now, some time later, in better shape, her guitar and a day job as a waitres, it wasn’t as terrible. God had answered her prayers and she had food, a parking lot where she could rest without being disturbed and a support system that, albeit small, was better than ever letting her family know where she was.
And in such a fateful evening, of honest work, and some tiredness in her steps after singing at a wedding just the night before, she left an empty tray by the bar only to turn around and see something, or rather, someone. The diner wasn’t as well lit as it could be, but she would recognize his presence anywhere. There weren’t many patrons and as far as she saw there was no one with him, so she wondered. Could she?
Should she?
❝ Johnny? ❞
His name came out like a prayer, in light tone, almost too quiet, but not enough to be a whisper. Warmth lit her cheeks, the same way it had when she met him, because there he was, as beautiful as ever. As she never thought she would ever see him again.
