The Tent City Collective Campaign hosted the event, “Honing in on Homelessness,” inviting Tim Harris from Real Change and Rex Hohlbein from Facing Homelessness.

"My name is Miles Cabrera, I am 19 years old and I live in Friday Harbor, Washington. I have done 3 years of art at our local high school until I graduated last year. I have summited a portfolio to AP college board and received a 5 for my portfolio. I am interested in making this art for the fundraiser because I love working on large art projects and improving my skills. My family and band have been involved in community service my whole life, this feels like a natural extension of what we do locally. I have a lighter college schedule this semester in anticipation of working on an independent art task. I would love to get involved in a service learning project!" -Miles Cabrera

"My name is Lynnette Cabrera and I am a 48 year old female artist who has been painting with acrylics and watercolors for the last 30 years. I have spent many of those years writing and illustrating a re-telling of Red Riding Hood called “How Ruby found her Way.” My book is in the beginning of the process of publication through We’Moon publishers in Oregon. My heart’s work is helping others and the opportunity to apply my artistic efforts to connecting with another person and expressing their individuality on canvas is a perfect match. We found Homeless in Seattle through some friends who were sponsoring a coat and blanket drive on our island for them and have been mailing and dropping off warm clothes and blankets for the last few months. Our creative arts program sponsors a homeless family in Houston who has ties to one of our band members. We have been providing some respite housing locally to families in transition and young people on our island and over the course of several years have accumulated too much. It has been such a relief to move along some of the extra clothes and supplies people have left with us as they travel to other places and take advantage of new opportunities.
