Ezor and Zethrid: Edgy Power Couple
I have mixed feelings.
Listen, this season, in general, was really good. It really was, I want to get that out of the way because apart from the obvious it was great. The animation was wonderful (as always), the music was fantastic, and I genuinely liked the plot and Hunk made me cry because these characters and this story mean a lot to me. There was so much good this season that being said, they made some poor choices, to say the least.
I’m going to talk about Adam because this made me so mad. Adam was literally placed in the show to establish Shiro’s sexuality then his job was to die and that death did absolutely nothing for Shiro’s character at all. There’s one moment, one, where Shiro gets to “mourn” and the flashbacks but that’s it, no conversation, no nothing. Shiro just goes on his merry way. Did this man mean anything to him? A nice moment to show just that would have been during Shiro’s fight with Sendak, instead of having Keith kill him, Shiro avenges Adam in some way.
I understand the situation they are in but was there really no other way you could actually flesh this out like was “The Feud” even necessary. It wasn’t a very good episode and there was enough humour in other places, so why not just boot “The Feud” and write something where the characters are actually affected by what’s happening to them. What I’m saying is there were plenty of other options which would have served your story in exactly the same way or would have been better. Â
Also, there were so many different opportunities to add wlw into the show but they went with Ezor and Zethrid. Now, I loved this because I called it but really the only wlw in the show we get to see are villains who want to torture the paladins for information. Just like give us variety man, Allura, Pidge, and Romelle are right there or you actually redeem Zethrid and Ezor like with Axca (Also, I will never accept Axca x Keith. You can pry gay Keith from my cold dead hands. Stop trying to make Axca x Keith happen).
LGBT characters have a history of being expendable and being placed in the role of the villain and this season completely played into that, they didn’t subvert anything apart from Shiro not being “your typical gay” and they didn’t add anything by going down this route. This doesn’t even benefit anyone in the real world, its just re-establishing what we already know. LGBT people don’t get happy endings. Thanks.
Hey, at least you’ve got these queens

Okay but!
Has no one considered Zethrid x Ezor? Plz I need content for this all of a sudden.
Ezor: If I died, how much would you miss me?
Zethrid, smirking: It’s cute that you think death can get you out of this relationship.
