A fabulously gilt Swept-hilt Rapier with an extendable blade.
The museum entry reads: "The unusually long and heavy rapier has a movable blade that can be pushed back into the hollow handle. By means of two gears and the teeth on the side in the area of the ricasso, two gears with springs are tensioned when pushing back into the handle. Loosening a trigger will cause the blade to protrude."
