Bill Vincent's EXSICCATAE series is at the "Guggenheim" in Quebec - the new show is opening 8 June 2026 (see the beautiful display in the comments).
"The collection explores the passage of time, the fragility of life, and the cycles of disappearance and rebirth.
Through hyperrealistic drawings and paintings of botanical specimens, Exsiccatae addresses mortality, memory, and transformation. Flowers dried under pressure, photographed on light boxes, are transposed into inverted blue tones reminiscent of radiographic imagery. Presented in robust steel frames, these delicate works take the form of taxonomies that are both scientific and poetic. The natural forms, preserved and suspended in the metal, become metaphors for what persists after disappearance: a memory, an aura, a trace."

Originally from Ontario, Bill Vincent chose to settle in Quebec in 1975 to pursue a career in visual arts. Working primarily in wood engraving (xylography) and painting, he has completed more than twenty-two public art projects in Quebec and has received numerous grants from the federal and provincial governments.
Trained as an engraver, Vincent began developing a painting practice in 1986, characterized by his relationship to materials and the treatment of surfaces. This new experience would later inform numerous series of engravings.
