Tomorrow will be my first day at work since my brain surgery on May 31. This summer was immersed in speech and reading therapy, healing rest, and learning to accept my limits and disabilities in order to fully recover. I still have a lot of recovery ahead of me. Friends and family: I will never be able to fully express how much your words, meals, time, and support have meant during this process. You have helped make a lot of wonderful memories while reminding me that I am always stronger than my weakest moments. Quick life/health update: Derek woke up at 5 a.m. to me having a seizure for the first time in my life, so I was brought by ambulance to the hospital. Turns out I have a cavernoma, but it won’t require any surgery - just medication. They are keeping me in the hospital overnight, but I feel much better knowing that it’s not a more serious problem. A first-time seizure patient is also legally required to abstain from driving for the six months following the incident. This will be an interesting adjustment period, and I appreciate everyone’s patience as I navigate the scenario. I also want to extend an huge thanks to all my family, friends, and coworkers that stopped by to see me today.
