Note that Polo describes the King attacking the Khan with elephants, whereas the illustrator depicts the Khan attacking the King with elephants.
Artemis: Reading about Polo again. Found Christopher Columbus notes on Polo's "Le Livre des Merveilles", latin edition (below). I was aware of the influence on Columbus but seeing notes on his own edition is new to me.
