verso and that dork rizz
got halfway through exp 33
Went out to a Life Drawing session last nite and it was Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 themed, with an amazing Maelle cosplayer 🌹🌹
(Had to include the best Gesturals, Noco and Monoco, in my drawings too)
Verso's Childhood
Can you imagine this? The boy did not want to paint, but learned because he's expected/forced to do so. He painted 1 canvas, 1 world. In that world, he painted his favorite plushie Esquie, his emotional support.
How lonely do you think he felt in real life?
His own sister (Clea) tormented his dreams in this world with Lampmaster.
He painted his dogs, Monoco & Noco to accompany him. He painted the gestrals with masks on. I'm not sure what Grandis are supposed to represent, maybe his need to rest/be just lazy?
But throughout his world, we could see his feelings. His childhood life.
Renoir had created "Visages" for him. He who GUARDS truth with lies. GUARDS. In a way, we knew, Verso always had to wear "MASKS" to never show his true feelings.
The boy, Verso's soul, if you notice, had always done everything his family wanted. While his family was just ignoring him, or what he wanted and sidelining his soul in the painting.
He had love for his family that he contemplated painting "forever" to make them happy. Even if he did not want to, because he always wanted to be a musician.
… That told me everything.
Verso in real life, did everything to make his family happy, even at the cost of his unhappiness. He wore masks, always hiding his true feelings. It's sad to think, that even at the end of Verso's life, his family still chose their needs/happiness over setting him free.
Aline chose to never let him die. Alicia chose to never let him be free.
It feels so tragic. How one's love and sacrifice, would also be punishing… causing torture and suffering to himself. I could never forgive Aline & Alicia/Maelle, to be able to hurt the one son/brother they supposedly loved…
How can they do it? Especially Alicia in Maelle's Ending?
Verso unmasks and tells Maelle his TRUE wants and feelings...
After hearing him beg to unpaint/let him go, & that he doesn't want this life...
How could she withstand torturing and seeing him suffering?
Also, Maelle: "I just wanted to live this lifetime together." A lifetime where she controls him? A lifetime where he's forced to do what SHE wants, where both painted & soul is enslaved by her? What SICK ABUSIVE relationship this is!!
Did she ever EVER, truly, TRULY loved him at all... or has it always been about HER... always about his unconditional love for her (and their family). It's "his love" she could not let go, not that she ever "loved him" at all.
Wow... That hurts even more (for Verso) now that I thought about it... :'(
