Hunter huffed in annoyance when Mia continued with the exact words he’d been expecting from her despite the factor he’d known it was going to happen. Of course she wasn’t about to just let it go so easily. The worst part was she wasn’t entirely wrong, either. It did not keep him from bristling, unfortunately. 

     “I had it perfectly under control! I would have been fine!” The insistence was instinctual, before Hunter could completely register the rest of her words. But when he did, the teenager seemed to deflate slightly as a frown tugged at his features. Voice dropping to something softer, near sheepish as he continued, “You’re not going to lose me...”
