Mainstream Diet Culture is Confusing
I understand that part of it is 'supposed' to be confusing to make people who participate in it seem impressive and stuff, but I never understood the whole calorie thing
like people will be like 'this *food item* is x amount of calories, and I burned *more than x* amount of calories
So how does that work? How are they calculating how many calories their exercise burned?? Do they account that just breathing heavier and a having a higher heartbeat may cause them to burn calories faster?
Isn't that basically like going 'I put an AA battery in a flashlight, and then left the light on for 2 batteries worth of light' ?
Also they (I think) are getting their information about the nutritional value of their food from the packaging; but I don't think the nutritional value label on the packaging could account for inefficiencies when processing food. Wouldn't that cause them to consume even less calories?
Wouldn't that be like not eating (in terms of energy levels?)
(I do understand that people will make videos like this then eat more food later/off camera, but that's not what my questions entail)
