Do u have any rly good Rescued Critter/Insect/Etc. stories u dumb soft nerd
There’s one licking my fingers right now as I try to type. No one wanted Cassie. They called her ugly because of her markings. She was terrified of humans; she’d hide in the guest room or inside the couch when approached. No one even wanted her as a barn cat. She was days away from being surrendered to a pound.
I held her for most of the two-hour drive back to my place instead of leaving her in the carrier, and that’s where our bonding began.
Another one...when I was in high school, I caught a coral snake (yes, I assure you, it was a coral) that the neighbors across the street found in their front yard. It was surprisingly easy to handle (mind you I did so with extreme caution). We took it to the zoo after calling their dean of herpetology who agreed to take it in, probably for release elsewhere. It vomited a greensnake on the way there.
And another...there was a vole in my parents’ bedroom. It took over an hour to catch the blasted thing—we brought Cassie in to catch it, and instead she sniffed noses with it and just sat beside it. Once we did finally catch it, I took it outside, and it made a run for it...right into my got dang pants. It just sat there between my ass and top hem while I tried to figure out what the fuck the protocol is for handling a vole in one’s pants. Eventually I did get it out without getting bitten, thankfully.
