"..The most loneliest day of my life.."
(Lord X x fem!reader)
Warnings: mention of blood/murder(?
Basically, you're Lord X's favorite vessel. He's killed you in countles ways, but with every time he watches you scream in terror, he seems to grow a little more bored.
To you, it's normal. Maybe it just means he's finally tired of you... and that this time he'll kill you for good.
But you couldn't have been further from the truth.
Today was one of the loneliest days of your life. You hadn't run into any of Lord X's other vessels anywhere in the castle, so it was safe to assume he had finally gotten rid of some of them... permanently.
The thought terrified you.
At the same time, though, it felt right. After everything Lord X had put them through, they deserved to rest in peace.
Speaking of Lord X, you'd noticed something.
Every time he killed you now, his methods had become... less extreme. He no longer dragged it out. He'd simply snap your neck or crush your skull with something heavy.
It led you to one simple conclusion, soon enough, he'd kill you permanently.
—...—
You let out a quiet sigh as you stared up at one of his statues. Deep down, your instincts insisted that wasn't what was going to happen...But you could already see it coming. Then again, that's the downside of living alongside a creature as unpredictable and as cruel... as him.
You continued walking, trying to ignore the uneasy feeling in your chest. You couldn't stop thinking about Lord X.
It wasn't love... or at least, that's what you kept telling yourself. And yet, every corner of your mind seemed to be occupied by him.
maybe you liked him a little.
Just not when he was bashing your brains in over and over again.
You couldn't remember when—or how—you'd developed those feelings for him.
But here you were, thinking about him all the time.
Your thoughts vanished in an instant when he suddenly appeared in front of you, a corpse dangling from one hand. Without a second glance, he tossed it carelessly aside.
-Greetings, my mortal... It's been a while since we last played, hasn't it?-
His raspy voice echoed through the hall. He reeked of decay, and his gloves were stained with fresh blood.
You didn't think. You simply answered, playing along with his stupid little game.
-I-I guess so...-
You heard him let out a low chuckle. He grabbed your arm with surprising force, and you felt his claws dig into your forearm.
-I do enjoy your enthusiasm...-
He laughed again before teleporting you to Green Hills to play the same stupid game as always—killing you over and over again.
but at least it didn't scare you nearly as much as it had the first time. Maybe that was why Lord X had grown bored of you.
The moment you arrived in Green Hills, he killed you. He didn't even give you a chance to run. Right before you "died," you noticed something strange.
His grin wasn't as wide as usual.
...And then everything went black.
You awoke once again in his castle. You had no idea how much time had passed, but you could still feel where his hands had been gripping you.
...Creepy.
Before you could even sit up properly, Lord X appeared in front of you once again...
-Why did you kill me so quickly...?-
You asked, genuinely confused.
His hands rested behind his back as he lowered himself to your level.
-Now... how can I explain this to you, my little mortal...?-
You raised an eyebrow at his moment of "hesitation."
-I've lost interest in killing you lately.-
Your heart sank. so this was it. If Lord X no longer wanted you, he had plenty of other vessels to play with.
-W-Why...? Are you going to kill me... permanently?-
You asked, unable to hide the fear in your voice.
A deep laugh escaped him. He reached out, taking your chin between his claws.
-Let's just say...-
He tilted your head up ever so slightly.
-...I'd rather keep you, mortal.-
"Keep me? What do you mean...?"
Your voice came out more serious this time. His words had genuinely caught you off guard.
He rose to his full height, letting go of your chin, though his gaze never left you.
"I've killed you countless times. I've seen your brains splattered across the ground more times than I can remember. You've hated me just as many times... and you probably still do."
He paused.
"But it's much simpler than that, my mortal."
"...I've grown attached to you."
His explanation only left you with even more questions. Every word he spoke seemed to tangle your thoughts further, until only one remained.
"...Is it love?"
You asked without a hint of fear.
He let out another dark, amused laugh.
"If that's what you wish to call it, mortal..."
His answers did little to clear your confusion. Slowly, you pushed yourself to your feet until you were standing at his level, refusing to break eye contact despite the uneasiness twisting in your stomach.
"I still don't understand..."
It was obvious he had grown tired of trying to explain himself. He stepped closer until barely any space remained between the two of you, his towering figure casting a shadow over yours as he looked down at you with the same unreadable expression he'd worn since this conversation began.
"Then allow me to make it simple."
His voice was calm, almost frighteningly so.
"Become my wife, and no one will ever lay a hand on you again..."
He paused, watching your face carefully.
"...Not even me."
You froze.
Was that... a proposal?
Or was it simply another command disguised as a choice?
You couldn't tell.
Your thoughts refused to cooperate, and before your mind had the chance to process what was happening, your body reacted on its own. You gave a slow, hesitant nod, your heart pounding so loudly you were sure he could hear it.
"O-Okay..."
Your voice came out barely above a whisper.
"I'll... be your wife."
