got past the end of Act 1 of clair obscur, spoilers below
I'd spent a lot of the game so far going huh, Gustave is pretty bland[1], especially when they refuse to delve into anything that might be interesting about him like did he already plan on going on an expedition at the time he apparently wanted kids with Sophie bc that's wild or the circumstances in which he got his arm. Maelle and Lune are each way more interesting. In fact, when bro froze up on the beach I was like I wonder if we're gonna Gurren Lagann this shit and switch over to Maelle.
But ofc (Gurren Lagann spoilers ig??), Kamina did not die a coward and neither did Gustave, and it was a well-done death.
Unfortunately for Verso in different circumstances I would be into his shit but right now I'm going ok, obviously to save us grief he can use Gustave's weapons but like...could they design a character that looks more different than him. Similar mechanics doesn't necessitate similar aesthetics! This hair color change + scar + minute differences in hair styling is not it.
Ok ok my secondary grudge against this man is that I expected to be walking around as Maelle at camp but I'll forgive that if they give me "Act 3 Maelle" and let him drop more lore on me before that...I want to listen in on Lune interrogating me c'mon game. Meanwhile I'm ignoring him to take the girls on side quests.
Am enjoying going wild trying to predict things[2], every time I'm in the manor I'm going ...that's fucked... and this was especially the case when I found a Maelle outfit in there
[1] Sciel also kind of bland but if she does something homosexual I'll give her a pass. Unlikely tho, the game feels solidly straight so far.
[2] Sophie took so long to gommage compared to everyone else, obviously for Doylist reasons of drama, that I was like uh what if she doesn't gommage and everyone's like what the fuck Sophie fuck you what makes you so special. Obviously did not happen but enjoy that initial thought.
