Tell me about FotH x Brigadoon please!
So, I was watching Brigadoon, which is about a small Scottish Highlands village that only appears one day every hundred years. When you get into the backstory, this phenomenon started in the mid-eighteenth century, as a way to protect the village from an external threat by snatching it out of time.
And I was 100% confident that this would be a Jacobite Rising thing -- I mean, the '45 is right there, as are all the crackdowns afterward. Things were rough there for a bit. (And continued to be rough with the Clearances!) And then the threat turned out to be... witches?
Witches? Witches?
Anyway, like all fic writers who decided that canon just did something stupid, I'm re-writing Brigadoon so it is a response to the '45, and because I can do what I want, I'm setting it in my favorite '45 fandom, The Flight of the Heron.
So instead of the plot being a twentieth-century guy stumbling upon Brigadoon during its one-day-in-a-century, falling in love, and having to decide -- all in the space of a day! -- whether to stay or not...
...it's Keith Windham turning up at Ardroy in its last hours before being snatched out of time, and having to decide -- in the space of a day! -- whether to stay or not.
Snippet under the read-more.
I'm an endless foth memes generating machine sorry
My name is Pysheshka fucking Mary Pushkova and I have just become the one and only Russian who translated The Flight of the Heron, AND IF I HEAR "INDEED, RATHER, BITTER GRIEF, NO ALWAYS, PRONOUNCED "MORAR" AND HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS" ONCE AGAIN I WILL START TO BITE PEOPLE😋
Everyone quiet, It was really
