Oh to be an American!
By taking a look at some of the hot topics spanning Reconstruction through Industrialization, it is clear that our problems did not end after the Civil War, and may have even increased. Slavery has presented itself in many different forms since the Civil War but it still remains in our prison systems, education systems, and in the lives of an everyday American. Industrialization offered a new way of life and with it, came a new way of discriminating against others, namely immigrants. This set of beliefs is one that still exists in 21st century America everywhere we look. As a result, we can confidently say that Reconstruction & Industrialization did not successfully solve the problems caused by slavery and the Civil War.
