Hello. How much do we actually know about black holes? Like, if I said a character went through one and entered another dimension, would that be rejected because, for example, we know people get crushed in a black hole? Thanks :)
Black holes are starts that are so massive, their own gravity has pulled them into a dense sphere that’s almost too small to measure. It has a gravitational field that is so strong that nothing - not even light - can escape it.
The Event Horizon is the closest you can ever get to the black hole. At that distance, you can still escape the black hole’s powerful gravity. Once you cross the event horizon, you’re a gonner - you cannot come back out. Since nothing can come back out, what goes on inside the event horizon is kind of a mystery to modern physics. Whatever happens in there, it’s a complete mess.
So, because we don’t know what happens inside the event horizon, feel free to have it be an entrance to another dimension, or the start of a wormhole that connects to the theoretical White Hole (which has never been found), or just about anything else.A mention that your technology has a way to keep the traveller from being pulled apart by the massive gravity goes a long way to making such a journey through a black hole believable.
Just be wary of evil robots.
