She stays calm even though she feels like putting her hands around the other´s neck. How dare she? How dare she underestimate her? A small chuckle leaves her red lips and it takes a few seconds until she answers. âYou offend me again, Miss Cho. Do you think you´re a better motherâŚâ She stops, her breath getting caught in her throat. Silly, Rachel. Evie didnât want to be a mother to Charlotte. And she shouldnât be one for her, either. âMonitorâ, she corrects herself. âDo you think you can be a better monitor for her than me?â
"A monitor? Yes. A mother? No. I detest children.â Evie lets out another laugh before sipping her tea. Just like Rachel, sheâs unable to have children- but Evie is fine with it. She came to terms with it years ago and her personality leaves little time for loving anyone other than herself.
âBut you have that dual role, just like Marion. They should have let her keep Charlotte, poor kid only has a few years left anyway. Iâm sure youâve heard the truth about her by now... Havenât you?â The truth that the little girl is a poor imitation of Rachel. A clone of a clone. How sad! Evie knows they should be talking business, what with them in her office and drinking from this lovely teacups, but part of her doesnât want to. Part of her wants to watch Rachel squirm.
