V has better than average sense of smell and taste, on account of his enhanced senses. There are some hannibal scenes I've been thinking about redrawing as evev

He canonically got himself a pretty apron, and you don't do that unless you actually like spending time in the kitchen. Cooking is important to him partly because of his senses, but largely because of his history. Obviously he wasn't eating well in Larkhill, and probably not for a while after either. Once he had the shadow gallery, and an actual kitchen, he starts learning and building a recipe collection. It becomes a very meditative and humanizing ritual for him.

Evey also has a complicated relationship with food. Her adolescence was filled with rationing, food scarcity, and food deprivation as punishment in the juvenile labor facility, and I think she went through periods of food insecurity in adulthood as well. She knew cooking was important to V, and when he was gone she made an effort to connect with him in any ways she still could. She worked her way through all of V's recipes, and the process helped her unpack a lot of her feelings around food.

On a kind of related note Evey has the cilantro soap gene. This one is entirely baseless I just think its fun.

I'm torn between V having a goofy ass allergy, and the idea V used to have an allergy and one of the side effects of Larkhill experiments somehow cured it. I like the kind of benevolent horror of your body being forcibly "improved" (even unintentionally), but I also like the dichotomy of a precise and deadly agent of anarchy that can be taken down by the red dye 40 in sour patch kid. Of course, England hasn't had those kinds of products for ages, so its basically void regardless. But still.

Evey thinks she's impartial to pets, but if she ever got a pit bull she'd find herself willing to die for that thing.

V on the other hand is a cat person. He almost took in a stray, once, but decided against it. He told himself it was more practical, but really there's a small and loud part of him telling him he's far too monstrous to be trusted with a living thing. (If he and Evey had more time together, he would've come across a stray and caved. He'd tell himself its so Evey has some company besides him around the gallery, but we all know who's lap that cat is curling up on every night. He would've named it Dantès, or after some other favorite character or something.)

V can speak a multitude of languages, and he picks up new ones very quickly. He reads and watches movies in other languages to stay in practice. Most of the languages he knows are romance languages, although he also knows sign language.
