So, do you have any thoughts about Howards background, how Howard met Jarvis (I know we know some of the story, but it feels incomplete to me), and/or how Howard relates to the rest of the commandos that we dont usually see him have interactions with?

So...generally speaking, I think the Howlies started off keeping their distance. They're in the middle of a war, what is an eccentric billionaire whose best hits include a dysfunctional flying car (and murder gas, and burning vest, etc.) doing in their bunker?

Bucky is the first to spend extended periods of time around Howard, purely by association. My headcanon is that Steve spends his time in Howard's lab (when he's not being pulled every which way, or when he's not busy looking at Peggy from afar like a lost puppy) both to escape the madness of the bunker and to test out the various Captain America Gears. So Bucky ends up spending a lot of time there too, and he likes to contribute ideas while never letting Howard live down his failed flying car demo.

Dugan and Gabe are friendly enough with Howard. They spend a little bit of time with Howard testing out new equipment, but they never got too close. In the Agent Carter one-shot we do see Dugan eventually becoming close enough with Howard to casually lounge at his pool. I guess some time after Steve's 'death' and the events of Agent Carter S1, Dugan hit up Howard to (a) tell him to please keep a closer eye on his inventions and keeping it in his pants jeez, and (b) check on Peggy. Their shared love for good bourbon is what gave them the opening to become better friends.

I have had it in my to watch list for AGES (don't judge me, I'm not American) knowing it'd be good, and I was not disappointed. What a wonderful, wonderful movie!

The theology is very shoddy, though. But the rest is impeccable.

I'm new to following you but I'm happy with whatever content. Sometimes I have headcannon thoughts that I wouldn't know how to put into a story but they are there anyway. Also, have a happy weekend off I think we all need that sometimes. Anyway, happy to be following you. :)

ahh thank you so much for following me & replying! I know exactly what you mean - I’ve got all these thoughts about the storyLINE but I gets stuck in the story part sometimes, which I think is probably pretty common.

14. What song fits them perfectly?

Whatcha Gonna Do (it really came up on shuffle just as I started answering this asl;df) (no but seriously not even Glee couples have their original songs. Peggysous supremacy.)

I feel like a few of the older Darren Criss songs really fit them. Not Alone definitely comes to mind. Dress and Tie by Kaye also reminds me of them :)

16. Do they like the same food?

Most of the time, yes. But I think Daniel is generally more adventurous with food; Peggy, on the other hand, has a much milder palate.

50. Who would protect who in a dangerous situation?

*flashback to 2x08/2x10*

...It’s hard to deny that Daniel’s definitely a protector. And this is really not to say that Peggy doesn’t care, it’s just that...their ways of operating aren’t the same. Going off of this meta, Daniel is the one who always has an exit strategy; he wants to see missions through but very rarely is something worth dying or getting maimed over. Peggy, on the other hand...if something has to be done, she charges in guns a-blazin’.

So really, it’s not so much that Peggy doesn’t protecc. It’s just she attacc more often, and as a result she finds herself in a position of danger more often than Daniel would. But in a situation where they are simultaneously and similarly threatened, it’s gonna be 2x08 all over again. They’ll throw themselves over each other.

🏰 How well do they deal with the vulnerability of being ill?

Short answer is: not well.

Long answer is... I think it depends on how serious that illness is, how busy he is, and how well he can hide his illness.

I think he accepts the odd sniffle here and there, especially if he can blame it on the season/an office bug. Especially if we’re talking about later down the line, and less... early S1.

If it’s serious enough that he needs to...say, come in late, leave on time, or take a day off, and he’s not particularly busy at the time, and it’s not serious enough that others comment on it, I mean, he won’t like it, but he accepts it.

But there will be times when he absolutely cannot compute the concept of falling sick. When he’s too busy and cannot ‘afford to be sick’, say. Or when it’s serious enough that it puts him out of commission and needs help from others.

So like, in other words, I feel like Jack gets frustrated with ‘the vulnerability of being ill’ when it inconveniences him and makes him appear ‘weak’ in front of others. If it doesn’t tick those two boxes, he can generally accept it.

🌡️ Are they prone to fevers?

Huh, interesting, I haven’t even considered that as a Thing.

I’m torn. The whumpy side of me wants to say yes. And—I like the premise of Fever that Jack might have contracted malaria during the war and gets knocked out with bouts of fever here and there.

But I think the more realistic answer is...probably not. Which just makes it much harder for him to accept and grumble that much more when he does get a fever.

🎭 Are they ever able to hide their illnesses from others?

Oh yea, oh totally. I don’t think I need to elaborate on Jack and his tendency/talent to put on a façade.

That being said, I think it’s equal parts how much he is able to hide, as well as how much attention others are paying him.

You know how people’s attention usually pass over the mundane and the usual? That as you take something as a constant, you are not on the look out of that thing failing on you? I think that’s kind of the situation with Jack. For the average Joe around him—colleagues and subordinates he is not close to, for example—they won’t notice he is sick unless it’s somewhat serious. It’s Jack, he’s polished and always ready to go, so unless he coughs up a lung or straight up passes out in front of them, he can hide his illness and others won’t notice.

Around people like Daniel and Peggy though, again, it’s equal parts them noticing better, and him hiding less. I think it’s not going to be a conscious thing; people naturally let their guard down around those they trust and in comfortable environments. So yea, in front of closer friends like Daniel and Peggy, he can’t hide it, whether he tries to or not.

But to fully answer your question, the show did start mid-action with all the characters already knowing each other. So I like to think...

With Daniel, it’s probably pretty straightforward. Not long after Peggy joins NY SSR (since it seems fanon consensus that she joins the New York office after Daniel), probably while both of them are left behind/sidelined during an almost office-wide operation, they were talking and after being called ‘Agent Sousa’ one too many times, Daniel was like ‘you can call me Daniel’. And Peggy hasn’t turned back since.

With Jack, the first time she used it was as a retort.

‘...and Marge here will take the lunch orders, won’t you, Marge?’

*mentally snaps her pencil in half*

‘Sure thing, Jack.’

‘It’s Agent Thompson to you.’

98. favorite historical era?

As a kid I loved Qing dynasty imperial life. The many period dramas on TV led me to reading all those children's history books about Qing court.

Now it's the whole first half of the 20th century.

In school and through uni, it was Edwardian and WWI. From my perspective at the time, it felt like a less discussed time period, sandwiched between the much more famous Victorian era and WWII. I wrote a few little snippets for my OCs sets in the Edwardian era.

Now my fandom interests have led me to expand to everything from interwar to '50s (looking at you, AC/AOS). It's such an exhilarating 50 years. It gives us the worst of political tumultuousness, and the most glorious and decadent of frivolity. Things change so fast that in just one generation's time—say, from the WWI generation to the WWII generation—the world is already unrecognisable. Yet, so much of what makes up our everyday life in 2022 can be traced back to those times; in particular, there are still some social standards, etiquettes, and formality of dress that have their roots in what is considered 'decent' in those days. Not to mention the aesthetics—both eastern and western, this period brought some of the prettiest things. Best part yet? It's just close enough to the present that we can still find a lot of original and extant sources of information to know what life was like.
