I don’t know how to find the words to express all the things; I am just so impressed by you. I was so thrilled when our paths crossed a year ago, because you always were on the short list of people I wanted to meet. You are the type of teacher I would have wanted to have, the type I would want to work with now. I so appreciate your friendship, for being a peer in which to share ideas and positive chi and fun interactions, but also someone I look up to as an educator and overall awesome human being.

I’m still in awe of the gift that was your unit on Romeo and Juliet and your willingness to share it. Not only did it save my life two years ago, but the model of it has also helped me learn how to unit pl*n. Gold.

1. Are there any smells/flavors that most people like but you don’t?

Hmmm.  Popcorn?  Like, not because it necessarily smells bad, but like, gag, I hate popcorn.  Also, I guess cut grass?  Cut grass is lame.  

2. What 5 adjectives would you use to describe yourself?

Funny.  Awesome. Indecisive.  Impatient.  Unwilling to commit to a fifth adjective.

3. What happened in the last dream you had?

I was hanging out with the DWM fam at Alex's house, celebrating some Chmerkovskiy brother accomplishment and when one of their friends who shall remain nameless chatted me up and then tracked down my phone number after the party to ask me out.  I'm not lying.  That was really my dream, and when it was over and i realized it wasn't real, I was very sad.

4. Do you have a personal philosophy or motto? If so, what is it?

Making connections is difficult and vitally important.  Never stop struggling to connect.

5. What are your 3 favorite words?

lovely. brave. handsome.  ooh, ooh, also FRAUGHT.

6. If you could look like someone else, who would it be and why?

Christina Hendricks.  Her body is bangin'...and actually, I mean, I'd keep my face but I'd want her body.  Or Mae Whitman.

Portland (again forever).  NYC.  London.  Ireland.  Austin.

Since there’s so much action, I always show the movie for act III and then discuss/reflect/predict.

Ditto! We read, we watch -- two versions: Baz Luhrmann and Zeffirelli (thinking about adding a third stage version?) -- then discuss.

I loved re-reading HP! The Hunger Games trilogy is on my list too. I’m currently re-reading Mists of Avalon - SO GOOD.

I read this comment and instantly got goosebumps. Mists of Avalon broke me when I read it in high school, gutted me inside and out. Reading that book was an experience, a whole wide world crafted so freaking beautifully and so real. The particulars of plot and character are fading now, but the emotions are still raging, vivid.
