a sigh. there is so much work to do, and yet there aren’t enough hours in a day to get everything done. not even with the countless nights she spends working longer than necessary. she tells herself it’s because she is an ambitious woman but she knows the truth. nightmares still haunt her. charlie puts the pen down and rubs her temple before she turns around to look at the man by the door. a tiny smile appears on her lips and she props her arms up on her desk before resting her chin on her hand. he’s too good to her, it’s no secret. some days, she wonders if she shouldn’t have listened to him more. ❝ i know, and i am beyond grateful. ❞ she sounds so tired now, there is no way she can hide it from him. and still, she makes an atttempt to do just that.
she gets up and walks around her desk to move over to the sofa. might as well get more comfortable when she’s taking a break (or is she finally putting an end to the day?). slipping out of her shoes, she pulls her legs up to fold them beneath her before offering him to sit down with her. ❝ shouldn’t you be asleep right now? i’m sure there are other people who can take over your shift. ❞ though none she trusts just as much. ❝ i won’t be offended if you prefer the company of your bed instead of lingering around here. ❞
