Tiny words pushing up into my screen Tell me what you’ve seen and where you’ve been.

They can’t let me touch your skin, Or feel your heart, the pulse within.

The need to see your smile wells within my eyes, Longing measured in frowns and sighs.

but it’s louder inside of me.

Innumerable bits, awake and asleep, blink in and out of consciousness. 

To someone lost in their midst they would have no meaning or pattern,

random, arbitrary.

They cluster and writhe, wriggling into shapes and structures:

architecture that few can understand, flickering binary crawling insectlike over itself

to twist into meaning.

Like so many synapses, the living network of bits is a reflection

of not only the human consciousness, but of the universe itself, 

the fabric of life. 

Now we are the masters of a new universe: we built it with layers - 

layers of abstraction and concretes, possibilities and hard limits. We used

the rules of this world to build the next.
