Summary:Â Danny Fenton has just escaped from a secret government testing facility and runs straight into Andrew Riter - a busybody librarian who seems to be obsessed with helping a stray black cat. Danny's the stray black cat. The Government gets interested when they find out a seemingly ordinary human can shapeshift into different animals. Danny just wants to return to his family and try to find his lost memories, but he's having a hard time doing so when he's finding less and less reasons for leaving Andrew's side. He couldn't tell anyone his secret - not again - but... But why did he want to trust this man so badly? (Iambic Prose) (Shapeshifter Danny AU)

âThese⊠These are pictures of me.â Danny looked down with wide eyes at the pile of books he had knocked over in his latest attempt at freedom. There, on the top of the pile, was an open photo album that had pictures of Danny. Each one showed him with what looked to be friends, Danny laughing, smiling, beaming, or just looking plain out happy.
âWhy would Andrew have these pictures?â The page fluttered and Dannyâs attention was drawn to one picture in particular. A younger Andrew and Danny had their arms around each other, grins wide and matching and grip on each other tight and sure. âDid⊠Did we know each other?â
~
âIâm sorry, heâs what?â Andrew stared at his brother in disbelief, the small black cat he had found sitting on a table between them and looking sour and bitter at the fingers holding onto the scruff of his neck.
âWell heâs either a government cat or he belongs to someone very, very rich.â Randy was amused and trying not to laugh, tugging at the kittenâs scruff. âIâm going with government, though, because this little guy is pretty small for being seventeen years old.â
~
âAndrew!â Danny screamed as Andrewâs surprised face was the last thing he saw as the man was pushed out of the helicopter. Shifting his teeth into fangs, Danny bit down until he tasted blood, ignoring the screams as the helicopter began to swerve out of control. Getting to the edge, Danny pulled himself over, seeing purple and grey falling fast and knowing Andrew was afraid and-
Danny jumped.
~
âI should be stronger than this.â Body settled back into the form of a black house cat, Danny sat on Andrewâs chest, counting each breath with careful dedication. The man was wired up to a ridiculous amount of devices and bandages covered the burns along his body. Danny was glad he was a cat. Cats couldnât cry like a human could. âI should be stronger.â
~
Breathing heavily against the door, Andrew worked his throat until he could swallow, breath jagged and uneven and this⊠This was what he had wanted. This had been what he had wanted for years. So why was he like this?
Shaking his head, Andrew pushed the door open and right. Right. He could do this. âDanny, I think we need-â His words died in his throat, Andrew staring at the knocked over piles of books, the open windows, and the muddy footprints among everything he owned.
In the middle of the room a few drops of blood stained the carpet.

âYouâve had a very tough life, havenât you?â
âYou have no idea.â
